Dune Buggy

About this Current Vehicle:

1972 VW dune buggy. This is a knock off of the Meyers Manx styled Dune Buggies and was a Jackal kit. It was originally owned by my dad. Him and I rebuilt this car when I was in high school looking to get my driver's license. I drove this all through high school and when I went to college, my sister got ahold of it, got in an accident and casused some other damage to it. It is currently sitting being neglected as we have been working on the 1970 GTO. Once that project is complete, I plan on turning my attention back to the dune buggy and doing some much needed repairs and upgrades.

Short Block Disassembled

Spent some more time in the garage working on the dune buggy this weekend. Shortblock is disassembled and cleaned up the heads a bit. Hopefully this week I can get the rest of the parts cleaned up and start coming up with a rebuild/repair plan. My thoughts so far are to build two motors, a 1776cc/reliable street around town motor to get it up and running quickly and then start putting together a stroked 2332 turbo motor. With the other cars in the works this one is not going to take priority over gettting the '70 GTO done, but it should serve as good filler as I wait on parts and such.

In the garage and tearing down the engine

Spent the weekend getting rid of crap that was cluttering the garage. Got my tools moved around, and enough space to fit two cars and a little room to work. So I decided to start digging into the dune buggy. So within a couple hours, I had the engine out and broken down to just the short block. Still haven't decided what I'm going to build the motor into...
