This was my driver during most of high-shcool, 97-99 or so. It was dubbed "the go-kart" becuse thats what it drove like. I had a freakin blast in this car. Its the one in the background of these pics. I couldn't find any other pics of it. They flamed 67 was my buddes.
The orange bug had spiraled out of control and I didn't want to drive it to school. My dad found this sitting in the corner of a qwik-lube place while getting his oil changed. Turns out they did some mechanical work and it was abandoned two year previous by the kid that was driving it because he was a deadbeat.
We convinced them to get a mechanics lein on it and bought it for $1500 as a non-running car. We towed it home and saw that they had the fuel lines hooked up backwards. We switched them, and whaddaya know, it ran! We later had to re-wire the thing because the entire harness went up in smoke one day while driving. Other than that this is how we bought it. At some point the whole thing had been completely restored. Based on the amount of billet stuff inside, I would say early/mid 90s.
Forgive me if I get some of the details wrong... this was a few projects ago!
