About this Previous Vehicle:

This is a 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport but you can call her The Boomerang for short. I’ve had a few Subarus over the years but this one I picked up in ’03 and it was my first experience with the 2.2L. Yes, this is a Subaru Impreza. Yes, it's AWD. Yes, it has a hood scoop. This particular car, however, is a pig. It's got a somewhat sloppy automatic transmission mated to a 2.2L N/A with nearly no aftermarket support. There are a few things like headers, intake, throttle body, etc but it would cost thousands for a net gain of around 26-30HP. That just doesn't sound efficient to me so I’ve not bothered with it.

I initially bought this car for my wife when we were living in Ohio because she was scared of snow and I wanted to get her an AWD. Since my paternal family has been driving nothing but Subarus for the last 15 years (for an accumulative 205 years of Subaru loyalty), it only made sense to take note and follow suit. Not only was this my first 2.2L, but it was also my first AWD. My experience had been with a few 1.8L 2WD Justys and Legacys. My wife drove this car through 03 & 04 where it remained completely stock. I bought myself a Tahoe around Thanksgiving ’04 and by the first of ’05 she had commandeered it and left me and my linebacker build with this small car that was perfect for her but feels small wrapped around me. Nevertheless, I’ve been driving it these last few years and have made only moderate modifications up to now.

Vehicle Journal:

Dec 27

Merry Christmas you jealous cowards

I hope my belongings bring you holiday cheer.

Two days before Christmas my car was broken into and all my car audio gear was removed, except for the head unit. Based on the details of the break-in, these guys knew exactly what they were coming after. They didn't even touch my wife's Tahoe. They hit my car and left, which makes me wonder how long they've been casing the place (I won't bore you with the details but this was no random break-in).

The monetary loss sucks, but what really peeves me off is that I have been working over the last several weeks on sound dampening and tuning for sound quality. Of course being Christmas Eve eve also upset me.

I've also been compiling a list of things I wanted to do after the holidays - including upgrading a few components of my audio system - but now this has me discouraged...

How's that for a first entry?
