About this Current Vehicle:

Purchased this beauty for $500 cash from a family friend with 133K miles on the chassis, and 40K miles on the engine. Original engine wound up throwing a rod due to a low oil condition. These cars LOVE to burn oil, thanks to the lack of oil return holes in the oil control ring lands. No idea how much oil this engine burns at this time.

Fixing some minor issues with the car and then it's time to rack up the miles on this piece of rolling tupperware!

A few other bits of work completed

Today I was able to replace the outer tie rods and flush the old brake fluid. Bled the air out of the system as well.

Things went well, outside of the strange occurrence of everyone getting alignments on Superbowl Sunday... WTF?

I have an appointment at 9am on Wednesday to have the alignment done. After that, one new tire, trans fluid/filter replacement, and a new windshield and this car's good to go. Tell you what though, this thing drives very well for a $500 beater. Smile

Working on this car is... fun.

Honestly. At least it has been so far. Everything seems to have been designed to be removed/replaced with a standard tool set of wrenches and sockets. Today I did the front brakes, rotors and pads. Got a smoking deal on Raybestos QuietStop Ceramics and Raybestos Pro Grade rotors. Install went well, no squeaks or squeals so far. I also tried a new anti-squeal product (for me), which is the CRC aerosol. Worked GREAT. Easy as pie, keeps you clean and so far no squeals.

I just got in from installing a new ECTS (engine coolant temp sensor) and man, it only took me 5 mins, and that included me yapping to my wife over the speakerphone on the cell. Pull up the intake tube, use a deep well 13mm socket with a 1" intension and BAM! Done.

Also washed the car real quick. Still haven't given it a full detail yet. Poor thing needs it. I think I'll let Wendy clean the interior though... (evil laugh)

If everything in life was this easy...
