...So the Sloth has seen some temporary setbacks including the latest which totally blindsided yours truly. Today marks week 8 of the rebuild effort. As most of you know I was lucky enough to have spun out a cam bearing on my way in to Aurora a while back and it had devastating results on the rest of my setup. :( The seizure resulted in the loss of #4 and 5 and some serious grating to the inside of the remaining cylinder walls. The FAST manifold sustained minimal damage; just needed a good cleaning thankfully. However the heads are trashed (for the record the inside of aluminum heads closely resembles the labia when they implode - just a fun little fact for ya). My mechanic says the coil packs needed to be replaced as well so you could say we had to go back to the drawing board this time around. The LS2 is clearly a loss so its out the door and headed to Carolina Machine Engines to see if it can be bored out any further and re-used. For the rest of the Core we went with GM Performance and a fresh LS1 crate motor. Hard to say what to expect when she rolls on to the dyno with the new setup but im hoping that the 350, when paired with the FAST manifold and my exisiting exhaust setup will do enough to get me back to 400 on the nose. Starting with a 3.73 setup for the rear but might need to come down a little since I'm pretty sure this car is not gonna leave as hard as my last monster did. The car has been sitting light in the front with the guts pulled so I dumped some of the tax return into new springs and coil-overs from Eibach. The waiting game sucks major!
