This is my second F-body, Third owner.
Its needed a fair amount of work, that I'm making progress on.
Ok, so more like i bought a train wreck before it started to go....
Dec 21
When I first started looking at this car i could tell that it had alot of love and care from its previous owners.... except the one that i bought it from.
The price was right, it had all the mods i wanted. And more mods that the owner didn't seem to know were there.
With that knowledge and a car that was to clean to have been on the coast for long i decided that replacing a clutch was an acceptable cost to purchasing this bird.
Now with less than 3k miles since I bought it ive had to not only replace the clutch but the rear end, lower control arm brace, two pullies on the front of the engine, and its developed a tick from the lower end that has been whittled down to two possibilities. rod bearing going out, or lifter fading. Oh cant forget the blown out plug that resulted in a striped socket that i will have to replace the heads when i replace the plugs again(good thing i used ac delco iridiums). At least ill have time to round up the rockers and cam i want and get my rebuilt heads ported.
What does all this have to do with the title?
Well after spending about an hour today talking with the previous owner before the turd i bought it from i realized that the car was in excellent shape when it left his hands almost two years ago. That the guy i bought it from is a pretty good liar, and mentally handicapped.
Even though the car was very clean under the hood and under the car, and displayed no overt signs of problems in the hours i took looking it over. It still should have been a big glaring NO! at the kids age and attitude.
Lesson learned?

And I've learned more lessons. Dont let people work on your car. Just.... dont.
I had the clutch replaced, and less than a few weeks later had to have the rear end rebuilt. Only they didnt really do it well, it still whines, they crushed part of my sub frame and the fender mounts and spilled something that ate the paint by the passenger side headlight. They also managed to forget to ziptie my o2 extensions which let them drag and eat through the wire which of course led to really bad miss firing and a tick the motor didnt have before.
I took it to a shit shop right? Well they have been doing our families work for like 10 years. But not any more.
So now I'm stuck fixing all that on my own. The body on this car was damn near pristine except for paint defects that you would expect on a 10 year old car with 100k on it and even then it was in great shape.
