I purchased this vehicle my freshman year in college. I almost wrecked my 65 Impala in the rain and my dad gave me advice that I should buy a safer more efficient car. So I got this one. HA.
I had wanted a Black Trans Am, since I first laid eyes on a Black 93 Trans Am. As time passed and Pontiac released the WS6 package I wanted one even more. My parents promised me that if I graduated from High School with an A average they would give me one as a present. Well I did, and guess what, they didnt. HA to me.
Well as time passed I started working at PepBoys, and the pay was pretty good for a freshman with no financial resposibility minus a girlfriend, reason for the job in the first place. Well I went looking around for a car, I test drove a couple LS1 Camaros but didnt really like them, plus they were kinda expensive. I drove a couple Trans Ams, but they were all automatic, and the wrong color. Then Finally on a Sunday Afternoon, I was cruising down the park, and I saw it. A 1997 Black WS6. I stopped, thinking to myself, its probably automatic, then I peered in through the T-Top glass, what did I see, YES IT WAS A STICK!!!!
So after about a week I drove her home.
From the Factory is came with Charcoal Leather Seats. Monsoon CD player, Optional Six Speed Transmission, T-Tops. WS-6 performance and handling package. Power windows and locks. It came with the sport seats, which feature adjustable lumbar support. 3.42 gears and limited slip outback. LT1, factory rated at 305 Horsepower 335 Lb-Ft of Torque. Tinted windows, but its that cool kind that darkens when its brighter outside and lightens when its darker

My first Mods were just stuff that looked cool out of a Summit Catalog, although now I know they might not have been a good choice.
I installed a Jet Throttle body air foil, Accel Coil and 300+ race spark plug wires. Flowmaster CatBack exhaust. I installed a March Underdrive pulley to maybe give some better gas mileage.
Now after much research and alot of help from the guys at LS1tech.com I have done some more responsible modding.
I installed some FLP long tube headers. Custom Y-pipe with high flow catalytic converters, and two race ready cutouts behind each header. I also purchased some McCord power plates but have figured out how to make them fit.
I also did some free mods. I did the fernco smooth bellows mod which replaces the air intake silencer or bellows with a smooth tube, the ICM cooling mod to keep the ICM cooler by moving it away from the head. I also have cutout the baffles in the Ram Air scoops to allow freer air flow. I also did the Throttle body coolant bypass mod to keep the Throttle body cooler.
Suspension almost stock. I have UMI 3 point subframe connectors, Dual Adjustable lower control arms, and panhard bar, I also have a panhard bar relocation kit for when I decide to get true duals.
I want to buy a better torque arm and torque arm mount that will take the mount off the transmission tail housing. I also want to lower it an inch all around.
Rebuilt the Rear end. Rebuilt the transmission and replaced the clutch.
I also Bypassed the dreaded Skip Shift or CAGS, with a 2K ohm resistor, now only the skip shift light works, but it doesnt shift to fourth anymore
I replaced the speakers with Pioneer triaxial speakers all around.
FIX MY A/C!!!
