Found this baby at a GM Dealer in Fort Worth several years ago. It is the rare chameleon green so it really got my attention. I have since turned this street machine into an all-out drag race car that I am proud to race every week. I hope to carry the car to many championships and be a mentor to those that think they cannot be someone important and do what you love.

No, it's not my mid-life crisis yet. I just don't get why things seem to happen all at once. Is it happening to everyone? Is it the economic status right now? Or was a wrong path taken? Not that we can go back and change the past, but you can correct or change the path of your future. Do you already know what you are meant to do or are you still searching?
Like I have a pretty OK job. It's really "dead-end", working for the gvmt on legal contracts where the people here do not want to help me advance or excel in learning. They frown upon me because I'm a chick who doesn't like cliques, gossip or acting like a real "girl" should. I care more about the next modification on my Trans Am or how I can better a light in bracket racing more than actually doing my job. I get on LS1Tech at least 2-3 times a day because I learn more there than at my job. It's not exactly easy to just get up and look for something right now. And gvmt is the last place they are laying off. I have a degree and 8 years of legal/hospitality experience, but, when I wanted to be a lawyer back in college should I have taken that path instead? I don't think my personality fits the "customer service" industry. I start out trying to be nice but in the end the customer is not right, they just want everything for nothing!! And my managers give it to them even though I am following the written process!
My passion lies within cars and modifying. That's all I want to do. I have a Mobile Mechanic business on the side that my husband and I started but it's falling down the tube too. We used to make thousands a month and now we're lucky if we make $200 a week. If my regular job paid enough, we wouldn't have to work 10-12 hours a day just to keep racing and do home improvements, go on vacations, etc. Well, yesterday I decided I'm quiting this job. I'm fed up with it. I can go fix a car, do everything perfect on it, and the next day the customer is calling because some "fluke" thing happened and oil is leaking everywhere. Or, some guy does not believe our diagnosis, even though my husband is a certified, experienced mechanic who also works for the gvmt., so he drills us with questions for 3 hours and we only made $50 on his car! Or, some guy calls you out cause his timing belt broke and he's drunk so he's leaning all over me and made me feel uncomfortable. Then the next morning he calls and bitches me out because usually drunks sleep in so I was courteous to not call him early but I get griped at cause I was at my full time job and had to wait to call him! Jerk! We turned down that job. I'm just done with it. We spend more time "giving" to people than making money. I'm sorry, I'm just not like that I need to make a living and do what I love. I already give to our local church and mow 3 acres of land for free! What more do I need to do??! I'm just a very goal-oriented, straight forward person, and I need to figure out how to get more out of life than this. I am one of the luckiest people since I get to race, and I know I have developed something amazing with my "All Motor" car, maybe this is the direction I should take? But most performance shops fail and I'm not that rich!

I would treat each customer equally regardless of how much they spend. (Seriously, one day the little guy will have BIG money too!)
I would be professional and never use foul language directly to them even if there was any trouble with their car. (Ex: Someone said to me: "Come get this f___er".)
I would never take 3 weeks to build a transmission or tune a car.
I would keep open communication with the customer, and keep them updated on the status of their car completition.
I would fire any of my employees who give up on a car or have too short of a temper just because they are frustrated with it.
I would NEVER bring up how much I am not charging someone for (ex: worked 4 hours on the car and charged them for 2) because hey, they may have put my name or company in a national magazine and brought me more business!
I would make sure each employee puts outstanding effort and quality in each vehicle.
I understand as a racer how important it is to get a race car done in a sufficient amount of time! The problem with some shops is that they have no sense or urgency and let cars sit around too long, agravating the customer. Some of us race weekly to keep our sanity and if we're not doing what we love, part of life crashes down it seems. Maybe someday I will own a shop so I can run it the right, "customer-oriented" way!

This was the second time Pinks returned to the Tx Motorplex in Ennis since 2006. Back then I ran 11.30s and understood why I didn't make the cut. This year, the car ran perfect and I was a competitive driver who did everything right. Everything fell into place beautifully! When we had our morning drivers meeting, Rich told us he'd pick 32 cars of the best racers for the field. 460 racers ran all day and on the second run, had to beat their time on the screen, which I did. Many were led to believe they were through to the next round, only to be notified that only 16 cars would be chosen for the grand prize. By the end of the day, an 11.00 class was chosen! My car ran 10.50 and a 10.55 - really great/consistant runs I thought! I know everyone can't win but I should have been chosen for the finals. I know I ran ALL OUT more than some of the chosen finalists! I have excelled greatly in my last 5 years of racing - they just picked a slower class this time. My friends and I thought it was BS that we were lied to from the beginning. Overall, it was a great time hanging with friends, and even though I'm unhappy and bewildered by the results, I'll probably sign up next time! I guess I'm a sucker for drag racing!

None; I have pretty much figured out a good combo on a little 346ci. The only thing I would consider would be putting a C5R block in her to make her run 8-9's.
