Just about everyone who goes on LS1TECH.com knows who Patrick G is. He is one of the original moderators of the site and is a much trusted source for advice on cam specs, porting, and exhaust setup. This 2000 Trans Am started out as "Project Silent Thunder," where Patrick tried to see just how much power he could squeeze out using mostly stock exhaust components. A few motor setups later, it has become, "Project Ultimate Daily Drive." This is due to the fact that this car make 450 rwhp and 415 rwtq on only 87 octane pump gas and gets 26 mpg highway and 16 in the city. Due to the low 9.2:1 static compression, this car can easily handle an over 1,000 rwhp turbo or supercharger setup while still maintaining its drivability. I bought the car as is with the 450 rwhp setup, but Patrick was nice enough to throw in and install a 175 shot dry nitrous kit and a great tune to go along with it. Because it is built for such a big shot of boost this car can easily handle a 175 shot. That's a good thing because I know it will last for quite sometime if I use it wisely. When that much power no longer quenches my thirst, then I can step up to the big boost and it will truly be just a matter of bolting it on and determining how fast I want to go.
