Hey there!
I hadn't always loved Trans Ams or any F-body really until a friend warmed me up to his '83 Camaro Z28. After this I started looking more fondly at these cars and found that the LT1 was my favorite bang/buck engine. Meanwhile I was driving a 'pimped out' Buick.
After enjoying my Roadie she was unfortunetly totalled by a wreckless driver. This started my mission to go after a FAST car, and I set my eyes on a 4th Gen. Trans Am with a m6. I did not care of colour or modification I just wanted my first manual.
In late september I found a car that looked promising but it was located 10 hours away from me, after a month of emails going back and forth with the previous owner (around 70!) I had booked time off work to go down and look at the car.
It was beautiful when the owner drove it into the timmy hoes parking lot, fresh paint with a low growl that made my heart beat faster. It was love at first sight. After chatting away with the owner over coffee we finially took the car for a spin. Mind you this was my first time ever driving a standard, but I knew the basics of being gentle with the clutch and the owner was VERY patient with me. For the record I didn't stall it until after I purchased the car and the owner was no where in sight!
I learned alot on the ride home (mainly shifting smoothly). I noticed how many people looked at the car when it was parked, and how everyone put the pedal alittle closer to the floor when I passed them. I never stopped smiling. The sound system kicked ass, with custom enclosure and 2 x 12" subs hit hard all the way home. I felt like I was free and could beat anything.
I made it home in around 6 hours (re-read 3rd paragraph hehe) with only filling up twice, I was impressed overall with the cars looks, performance and quality. Of course there is always something to do that would make it better.
I raced many cars when I came home, beat a '03 Stang, a modified Talon and many teenagers that thought thier mom's car was fast.
