I'm a spoiled little bitch, my dad bought me this car when I was 17 to be a more reliable daily driver because my 1979 Firebird was gettin a little old for that. He purchased it for $5,000 with 70,000 miles on it. Surprisingly, the guy was the original owner, and he bought it for his wife. She didn't need the L98 350, so he had the dealership credit the price $1500 and they put the LB9 305 in there. What a WASTE! But it was WAY faster than my Firebird, so I took it.
Only mods I had done was a Flowmaster 40 series muffler, K&N drop-in filter, and Hypertech chip. This netted me a best of 15.3@88mph, which by today's standards, sucks balls.
I had to have a new alternator put on at some point, and while it was at the shop, the intake manifold gasket blew. They replaced that (charged us for it) and while I was out driving a while later, I lost oil pressure. My dumbass dad decided to drive it to his part-time job to see what was wrong, and by the time he got home the car was dead. It was knocking horribly, and died twice on the way home.
Culprit? Oil sump pickup fell off the tube, so it wasn't getting any oil.
Outcome? spun bearing somewhere in the motor. Car was sold to the same shop that fixed it for a measly $1500.
