i bought this thing on grocery store money when i was 14. this car has seen so many memories and carries a lot of sentimental value.
ws6 package turbo t/a. it was a fully loaded car, now... not so much. somebody wrecked it before i got it and put on plain firebird fenders.
uhhh...

well.. i put some 3.70's out back.. subframe connectors, slapper bars, i've gone through many engine combo's with this car. had a sbc in it when i was in high school with some flat tops and a summit cam. then we went to ported 882's and a comp xe 268, which was a real nice combo. then we blew it up. i put a 7.6:1 400 pontiac with a little crower cam and headers. that went high 13's. then a 455 with the same head/cam/intake, which was brutal but i never got that to the track. then i went to a supercharged sbc with stock bottom end, and the top end off of my old 350. that went 12.80's. without the blower on n2o, it went 12.40's on a 100 shot. now i'm back to a 400 pontiac, having trouble getting it tuned in. ignition problems i think.
new combo. 400 pontiac stock rods/pistons, arp rod bolts. #16 heads. 2.11 1.77 valves mild porting by me. milled by previous owner(the intake will barely bolt on) chambers are about 68cc. comp 292 mag. 244@.050 straight .550 lift straight with 1.65's. original edel. torker intake. 750 holley dp. mystery 3 tube headers. 3" to dynomax race bullets and turndowns. ticks about 10.25:1 compression. just broke it in, but it sounds even better than i anticipated. nice, sharp pulses with a real cackly idle. sucker is loud as hell WOT. gets it though.
stock, slapper bars. good for 1.65 60'
now swapping the old slushbox and turd converter for a bw super t10. i've been having a lot of trouble with converters, so i'm goin manly. previously at mokan i got a little hesitation in third but it cleared out and ran 13.01 at 104. still on a wimpy 1.90 60ft. hoping for much better trap speeds with the manual.
none
i can't figure this thing out, i put in an MSD module, and hypertech cap, coil, rotor. its got new plugs, which look pretty good, and accel 8.5 wires. only thing left in there is the pickup, but i don't see how it would run at all if that was jacked up. i think i traced the hi rev hesitation back to fuel problems again. DID YOU KNOW that the crank hub on a 79 W72 400 pontiac has a smaller diameter than ALL THE REST OF THE PONTIACS. therefore the flywheel will not work on an earlier pontiac. WTF.
