Sammy Hagar - Fast Times At Ridgemont High
This was my first car that I bought when I was 17 years old. I always wanted a car that was vintage and stood out in the crowd a bit. This car had been in my family since 1980 when my uncle bought it from Joe Perrilo Pontiac with 10,000 miles on it. The car was originally from Michigan and was traded it by a college grad for a new 1980 Turbo 4.9 Trans Am. My uncle bought the car since it was equipped with a Oldsmobile 403 cu.in. engine. I believe my uncle pay around $7,000 for the car at the time. The car was mostly driven around the Glenview area and was only driven around the neighborhood and very short drives. The last time the car was driven was 1983, when my uncle started to work downtown and bought a beater car to use which was a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the Rocket 350 cu.in. motor. When I was about 16 years old going onto 17 in about a month away, I started to talk to my uncle about getting his ' 72 Cutlass cause I liked the fact it had the glass pack mufflers on it and Cragar S/S wheels. He told that he wanted about $10,000 for it and back then I didn't have much money to spend on my first car, so I told him how much for the Trans Am and he said it wasn't for sale even being his only nephew. I asked him again about the Trans Am after I got my license and he said $20,000 and I really didn't have money like that to spend. So we talked so more and came to agreement on the price and he said at least $5,000 for it and I was so happy. I asked him about the mileage on the car also and just other things. He did tell me that the car had low mileage on it probabably less than 25,000 on it and I was saying no way. The day before Easter sunday I took purchase of my 1979 Trans Am and opened the door for the first time and read the odometer and it read out 12,152 miles on it. I was just shocked on the mileage but the car didn't run like a 12K mile car. My uncle never really took care of the car much after parking it in 1983, so it hadn't seen an oil change in 18 years and had full tank of 18 year old gas. Once I got the car to my house, it's had taken me about 2-3 good years to get the car to run just right. I still own the car to this day and it has about 26K miles on it now and I'm still slowly replacing parts on it.

It looks like Year One is reproducing the 15x8" Snowflake wheels that were factory rims from 77-81 Trans Am's. So I need to sell my Cragar's first. I'm asking $650 for 15x7 Cragar S/S wheels with 225/70/15 BFG Radial T/A's with under 8,000 miles on them. The tires have only been used for highway miles and to and from cruise nights.
