I was out looking at 3rd generation Firebird mainly TransAMs, Formulas and GTAs. It had to be under $1000.00, which was my budgetary limit. Just so happen that Craigslist had a few of them listed but needless to say the ones I wanted to view sold quickly and the others were owned by a bunch of youngsters who did not take care of them.
My sons and I were departing from viewing a 1987 Firebird that was doable but just not quite the type I wanted as it was not a letter car. My eldest said daddy I know where there is one that has been for sale off and on but it has not sold.
I saw this raw piece of machinery and it was love at first site. It was a vehicle that sat for well over a year for no apparent reason except the youngster could not afford to drive it. Well through all of the dirt and pine needles we got a chance to view it, and I told them it had to run for the asking price of $800.00.
The poor fellas could not get that car to run so they said well we are sorry Mr. we are just going to have to "TOW IT OUT OF HERE". As we are moving in a couple weeks and it was our old roommates car.
I said hold up I will give you $500.00 for it as is. After a new starter, battery charge, replacement carb and much elbow grease it is up and running.
