I purchased this vehicle originally as a driver in April of 1999. After an unfortunate miss-hap with a frozen wheel bearing on the drive home, I put the car down immediately for restoration.
It's been a slow process being a full time student and not having all the funds I would like. Soon enough I hope to have the bird on the road.
The car is in the final stages of a partial frame off restoration. The front end has been gutted and rebuilt and new sheetmetal added to the rear 1/4's.
The color chosen is a toyota black with colored flake. Rounding out the project will be some suspension upgrades for handling along with a decent drop and a set of 17" wheels.
This is a custom ordered car. Originally AC equipped which provided the beefy TH400 auto. The car was originally equipped with a 2 bbl carbed poncho 350, delux interior package and consoul shift.
The car is now a floor shift with a worked over 455 poncho. The original delux interior is still in place and in great condition.
Once finished the car will sport the following exterior modifications.
Camaro style spoiler on the trunk
Camaro style front chin spoiler
Color keyed pumpers and mirrors
Interior will stay stock with the exception of sport seats and a nice stereo.
The car was purchased with a built 455 in place. 462 cid with #62 (big valve) heads, edelbrock performer RPM manifold, RA IV cam. Power is sent to the TH400 via a B&M whole shot 3000 converter.
Once the restoration is complete I plan to open up the engine, replace the heads and drop the compression to a boost friendly 8.5:1 and complete a turbocharger system for the car. Performance goal for the car is 700 hp and equal torque.
Guldstrand mod, Delrin front control arm bushings, Hotchkis 1 1/4" hollow front sway bar, DS&E solid body mounts, DS&E sub-frame connectors, AFCO 800 lb front coils, custom built 300 lb rear multi leafs, custom valved Bilstien shocks.
The only thing planned for the drivetrain is a 12 bolt rear with a Torsion style differential.
I plan to do a 7 speaker audio system in the car.
2 doors speakers with 2 tweeters, 2 rear speakers and 1 sub-woofer.
