After I totaled my low-low mileage '83 Cutlass (long story), I started looking for another Cutlass & found this one parked behind an elderly lady's house. It had been sitting in the same spot for so long it had sunk up to the frame & a tree had grown in front of it. I got it off her for $200. The engine & tranny were shot & so was the interior. The body was decent other than the trunk and paint. When we got it on the back of the tow truck, I actually thought it was a light tan in color, but after about $10 at the car wash we discovered it was off-white. I did a complete drive train swap from my other Cutlass and swapped in as much of the interior that I could. I would have done a full swap on the interior, but this one had a center console & the other had a bench, and this one had different power options as well. I cleaned it all up, got the interior situated, gave it a nice coat of bright white, got the top replaced & added a nice stereo all in a matter of a couple weeks. Not too long after I got it going, I threw a rod in the 3.8 while trying to race a Civic. I should have known I couldn't take him off the line!! So I put together a mild 350/350 combo & was cruisin once again. I probably only had a total of around 2 grand in this car and it wasn't anything fancy or special, but I really loved this ride! It sat a bit lower than most of the other Cutlasses I've seen, and I loved the look of the bright white car with the matching wheels & white letter tires. I sold it off to buy an '84 T/A, which was a nice car as well, but I wouldn't mind having this car back!
Bucket seats/Center console & A/C are the only options, I think?!? The wheels might have been optional? I don't really know!
I took most of the chrome trim off the '83 Brougham I wrecked to dress it up a bit, but other than the new white paint, brown pin stripe & brown top there really wasn't anything done to it.
Pieced together from two different Cutlasses for a custom two tone tan & brown. Plus a wood grain steering wheel & shift knob.
Small block 350 with mild cam & true duals.
Blistein shocks. Sways off a 88 Monte SS.
Turbo 350 w/shift kit.
Kenwood head unit w/ 6x9s in the rear deck, 4 inchers in the doors & tweets sunk into the A-pillar molding. Plus a Audiobahn competition series bandpass box w/2 12s pushed by a Boss 450 watt 2 ch amp.
It still needed a lot of finishing touches, but I got rid of it & moved on to the next project.
