Bought it a year ago and 3 weeks (1300 miles) after I bought it, it threw a rod through the block.. Its still under the factory warranty and the dealership doesnt want to cover it.. Little do they know, they have to.. Anyways, thats about it on this car.. Its running again, broke the shift interlock collar in the trans.. Pulled it out, tore it apart and am currently fixing it..
Update, I broke the 3/4 shift fork and fixed it then months later I stripped 3rd gear on 9 lbs of boost.. Pulled that trans and put in a probe trans..
Factory Options:
turbo with a big wing and good suspension.. 170hp and not enough tq (not enough hp either)..
9000 miles on the new motor..

Nice protege check out my ES I use to own. Dont give up on it they are good cars im thinking about buying another one. Yes the HP isnt great but who cares still a nice car.

i think it broke because Ford bought Mazda LOL !and american owned japanese car companies shouldnt exist, and vice versa!
Wow how does a new car like that already throw a rod? I've always been skeptical on Mazda quality and now I can't help but wonder if they have a bad reputation for a reason. Well another reason other than the Rotaries
