About this Current Vehicle:

Long story short, when I relocated to college I wanted to have a daily driver that I didn't have to worry about and that I didn't mind driving everywhere, putting a lot of miles on (driving back and forth from NY to RI), and that I could park somewhere and not be nervous the whole time about.
After months and months of searching for what seemed like an eternity, I finally found a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I was happy with. At first I set a budget of a measly $500 but after looking at what I could find for that price range, my budget increased to $1000, then $1500, and so on and so forth. Well, I did end up staying well below $5000 and I was very happy with the purchase.
The truck got me from point A to point B, and I did not end up putting much into it at all. One of the worst events of my life occurred in November of 2004. I was driving home from RI to NY to surprise my family for Thanksgiving dinner that weekend. I made it all the way to Queens, NY after seeing a half dozen accidents on I95 in both RI and CT, most likely due to the horrible weather (downpour of rain and wet roads) combined with certain drivers not driving so smart.
A BRAND new Dodge Durango ended up losing control and t-boned my truck on the passenger side. This ended up sending me out of control and across several lanes of traffic before finally hitting into the center divider and then spinning across the lanes again and finally into the bottom of an overpass. I remember this clear as day like it was yesterday. But from the point of impact all I remember is an entire view of 'black', almost like looking into a solid night sky without any stars or clouds.
Someone was looking out for me that night because I ended up luckily walking out perfectly fine, a couple scratches, bumps, and a serious headache, but all in all I was okay.
It was about 3:00AM and I had to make that terrible phone call to my father and my girlfriend who both came out and helped me get through this.
A couple of months later, my father found a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee that he liked. He ended up surprising me with it and we set everything up financially. I came home one weekend expecting to go and pick it up and he ended up picking me up from the train station in it. I ended up falling in love with the truck.
The truck owes me absolutely nothing. It's got a little under 155,000 miles on it but the previous owners definitely took great care of it. I continued to maintain it very well, changing all the tires, brakes, pads, rotors, etc. I also changed the battery and had routine oil changes every 3000 miles or less.
I ended up becoming too happy with it because after a long time of driving the previous Jeep stock and this Jeep stock, I finally put a system into it. I had a beautiful brand new Pioneer DEH7700 deck with 2 - 12s in a custom ported box and an amp. I ended up working a closing night shift at TGI Fridays (where I *used* to work, very happy to be out of the industry), and I came out into the parking lot around 2AM to find the driver side rear window shattered with glass everywhere. The dome light was turned on, the back seats were folded up, and the entire system had been stolen. No clue who it was. They ended up leaving a Citizen's ATM Reciept and a screwdriver in the vehicle. Unfortunately the Warwick Police Department was unable to do anything about the incident. I'm not going to start bashing the police department because I'm a criminal justice major myself and aspire to become a police officer shortly, however, I was very disapointed with how the situation was handled. I still haven't gotten over this incident 100% and my trust for others definitely decreased. Everything was covered and hidden. No clue who it was and more shocking to me, no clue how no one happened to hear or see any of this in a lit parking lot at TGI Fridays (busy the entire night). Anyway, the vandalism was pretty bad inside. I went back to NY and was actually able to find a great place that was able to sell me a few stock interior parts that I was able to put back together inside. My father ended up giving me one of his older stereos from another vehicle of his that was very sentimental to him. He got everything installed and working great. I now feel like the truck is how it should be. It looks great. The last thing I did was tint all of the windows which make it look even better in my opinion. Because of certain employment over the summer, I also had to tint the windshield and the truck looks great. I'm very happy with it. Lesson learned from what happened previously though; I'm leaving it stock now as it is my daily driver.
I plan on graduating college in February and will likely get a new vehicle to replace this one when I graduate and obtain a full time permanent position.
Thanks for reading.

PS: Just looked as I was filling this out below, and the newer vehicle the '96, is a V6 as opposed to the '93 which was a V8 and I cannot begin to tell you the difference in gas mileage, I'd probably be broke if I still had the V8....
