I have a 2003 mustang cobra. the car started as your basic 03-04 cobra bone stock when i bought it. then the modding began. i started with the typical stuff, catback exhaust, CAI, and pulley swap. i added a heat exchanger and mid pipe and produced 447 rwhp and 460 tq. this combo was good for a 12.2 pass on street tires at 116 mph. The next year i went to a stage 3 ported polished blower, added a crank pulley 60lb injectors, mafia, short shifter, better tires, a BAP and an lfp super cooler tank and produced 522rwhp and 498 tq, that gave me an 11.7 @121.14 in poor conditions. late in the year last year after multiple highway runs i developed a ticking sound coming from under the block. The compression/leakdown tests revealed the rings in cylinder 7 were not in good shape. that brings us to where we are now.
the motor was pulled from the car and bored .20 over and rebuilt with 17cc dished cp pistons retaining the stock rods and crank. I am going to a 99/01 cobra intake and a hellion big single turbo set up. The turbo is a polished turbonetics T-76 s-trim .96 AR BB turbo. I am alos adding a new fule system including a sumped tank with an aeromotive eliminator return fuel system with 96lb injectors. As for the IRS it is hitory being traded out in favor of a Moser 9" solid axle with metco uper and lower control arms, 3.25 gears, 35 spline axles and detroit locker tru trac. In order to fit with the 9" i had to trade out the stock drive shaft as well. Backing up the motor is the t-56 6sp trans which has been upgraded with a RAM street dual 300 series clutch and aluminum flywheel stainless steel TOB retainer and 26 spline input shaft. I have the upr tubular K-member and the coilover springs from the hellion kit up front currently. I just got the motor back today and the motor trans should be back in the car anyday now. I also have the LDC head cooling mod, firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant from steeda and a triaxe short throw shifter. I would like to get a set of 15x12 weld prostars and skinnies to match at somepoint in the near future.
