1932 Original Ford 3W Coupe. This is a true and period correct 60's hot rod.
N/A
The body is straight, the car is rust free and is untouched as it was back in the 60's Including; Chopped and original hinges.
What's new; Black primer paint. Replacement handles & hardware. New glass. 5 lug steel wheels. Wiper system. Mirror.
50's style black / red, tuck & roll interior. Sound barrier padding & new perforated headliner. Custom dash w/ OEM standard speedo, etc from a '55 Belair. Recently repainted ermine white. Swapping out SW to Mooneye's gauges.
(In 1964, the builder put in 40+ hrs just to get the dash right, and it looks great).
This car is as fast a early 60's era hot rod as I have ever driven (or seen). It's not the fastest car on the road today by no means, but it would have taken your car and your pink slip back in the early 60's. And that's what is cool to me. Old school? You bet!
I am swapping the built mouse motor for a built custom flathead. I've always wanted a pure hot rod with a flattie. See notes below.
Drilled and split 42 wishbones, Drilled 4" SuperBell chromed drop Axle, 36 Ford Rear radius bars, 48 Ford Juice brakes.
FORMERLY: 327 Chevy V8, 400 hp., 194 ported polished, angle grind, Camel Hump heads. Edlebrock intake w/ complete & correct original tri-carb setup & finned valve covers, Competition Cam. 4 speed Saginaw. 9" Ford, posi with 411 gears.
I bought a turn key flathead motor and have spent months learning everything I can on flatheads. I've sold the small block chevy motor.
Just the basics. Radio delete.
1st: An engine swap is in the works. (See last photo).
'52 CM Mercury flathead. 3-3/8" bore. 4" Steel Mercury crank. Relived block with port work. 3 ring aluminum pistons (Ross). Rebuilt Merc rods. All new bearings. Big oil pump. SU 1A Winfield cam. Adjustable lifters. Aluminum cam gear. Offy heads & Offy intake manifold w/ 3 Stromberg 97's. Grant/Spalding Flamethrower ignition.
2nd: Remove rear rolled pan - Install new gas tank.
3rd: replacing the Belair steering wheel with a banjo style wheel, and going back to a tall shifter with a "Old Style Beer" tap handle / shifter knob.
Note to self - add new photos here when done.
