Performance:

Abbott Racing Engines 565 Big Block Chevrolet, Dart Big M block, Diamond custom Pistons, 16.2:1 compression, Groden aluminum Rods, Victory 1 Titanium valves, Xceldyne belt drive, PSI Valve springs, T&D Shaft Mount Rockers 1.8int/1.75exh, 3 stage dry sump, vacuum pump, RHS 320cc heads ported by Abbott, two carburetors,

UPDATE2/23/08: We put a new set of Lonestar Motorsport Dominators on the engine and went back to the dyno. It made 1103.9hp 818tq which met our goal of 1100hp but the downside is the supply pump to the dyno gave up at 8300 and the motor freewheeled past 9100rpm's and it broke a couple hard tips on the valves. We've learned more in the head department since we built this motor and while the heads are off fixing the valves, upgrades are being performed as well as a cam change. Next time to the dyno we're looking for 1150hp or 2hp per cubic inch.

3/8/08: The heads are close to done. The new valves have 5/16" stems, with a 2.335" intake valve and a 1.82" exhaust valve. Average flow at .900" before was 430 and so far we've gotten it up to 457. The best intake port has gone 470cfm!!!

3/11/08: The heads are even better than expected. They are averaging 465@.900" lift with the best runner flowing 482!!! 1150+ should be easily possible!!=D

3/29/08: Went to the dyno finally and it made decent power. 1143hp/846tq best. They dyno room was extremely dirty with old exhaust gases and as the day went on, the more we battled it. We figure a cleaner environment would net us another 30-40hp but overall we know its going to be a beast. Much less, its a conventional headed 565 making that much power which is definitely nothing to hang our head about. Time to put it together and go racing!!

4/12: Finally debuted the truck in Texas Pro Stock. We had to put 250lbs in the truck to get to 2515 to make the 2500lb minimum. The converter is about 800-1000 RPM too tight so it wasn't leaving like it should and after three passes we toasted the transmission. Best was a 5.00@138 with a 1.10 60'. We'll fix the transmission and make a few changes and hopefully go some 4.8's next time out. We might even swap to a single carb setup for a 100lb weight break but I'm not sure if we'll do that yet.

4/17/08: We were hoping to have the transmission back together to race at Ennis at the next TPSA event but we won't make it. More parts were broke than expected in the transmission and we can't get them here quick enough. We've got a new converter that will hopefully stall around 6800-6900 and will also change fuels for another 30-40hp as well. It should run a low-mid 4.8 at 2515lbs. Time will tell. Next even for us will be May 31 at Northstar Dragway in Denton, Texas.

07/30/08: We've been to 4 Texas Pro Stock races so far and we were lucky enough to win our first one at Edinburg International Raceway. The path to 4.8's has been a lot tougher than expected but we finally ran a best of a 4.896@140.9 with a 1.080 60'. We also opted to replaced the two carburetors with a single and pulled the 100lbs out. We gained 2-3 hundreds(approx) ET reduction when we did that. We still have some more things to try, looser converter, different headers, and of course there is a LOT more to be done in the engine for more ponies. We're just happy enough to have won a TPSA race in our first season!! =) BTW I have a lot of pictures but since all the updates for adding pictures to Fquick have been made I haven't been able to add them. Look on www.texasprostock.com in the message board for some of them and also a video or two.

10/17/08. We ran at Pine Valley Raceway a few weeks back and ran a new best of a 4.85@143.5 but its still not enough. W. The new record in e're probably done for the season and will be going through the engine and making lots of upgradesTPSA is a 4.607!!! We have a lot of catching up to do.

10/21/08 We've got some new plans together for a new engine. We're probably going to shrink the engine back to a 538" so we can pull another 50lbs out plus build a new set of heads along with a lot of other changes. We're hoping for around 1150hp but only time will tell.

1/8/09: We've looked at all of our options and we're going to stick with a 565" engine. We were planning on building a whole new engine for the new year but some of the parts have too long of a wait so we're going to re-do the engine that was in the truck to have something to run at the beginning of the year. We have some different heads, will upgrade the valve train, and a few other things. 4.6's are our target but with this engine if we could run 4.7's all the time we'll be satisfied. We also have some changes to make in the chassis department with weight placement. Before next time out we're going to get some more weight tabs added and more bars built so we can move some weight around. Updates coming later. here is a video of the race at Edinburg. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=42596160
Here is one more video of us at Houston Motorsports Park http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Texas-ProStock-June-14-at_167106.htm

5/2/09: After a lot of thrashing, we finally made our first TPSA race for 2009 in Abilene and our changes in the engine were definitely to the plus side. We ran a 4.91@141.8 best in a 28.11 baro, 4000'DA, 60% humidity. We've got a new converter being built that should pick us up .03-.05 pretty easily. the one we were running was too tight and slips way too much but time will tell. As far as the race goes, we drew a fast car first round and despite a .04 advantage on the tree we didn't have enough beans to win. We did however have a small pot with the first round losers and we wont the second chance consolation race. We're going to Evadale May 16th for the next event and really hoping that the good sea level air will get us comfortably in the 4.7's but we'll see.

5/17/09: Just got back in town from Evadale. We have made excellent progress but are still behind. We ran a best of a 4.80@144.97. Minor tire shake and lack of runs kept up from our 4.79 and 145mph goals. We did throw the ballast out for a time only pass at the end of the night and ran a 4.70@147.98 though which was fun, haha. We'll keep working on it and hopefully keep improving!

10/28/09: Been a while since I posted anything, I've been really busy. However, we finally won our second TPSA race and first this season a few weeks back. Also ran a new personal best. 4.741@146.7 1.061 60'. We've still slowly but surely been gaining on it. We have a couple other small things to try with this engine but have already started on the new heads for next year, which are WAY ahead of what we've been running in more than just the flow area. Should be interesting. We have one last race this weekend and it will be time to tear it down and go through it again.

11/3/09: Made the last race of the season at Dallas Raceway and had an excellent time. Made it to second rd when we got outrun but we ran a new best of a 1.051 60', 3.049 330', 4.725 1/8th 146.91. Not to shabby for this engine, now time for the upgrades!
