Bought it new in June of 2001. It's been a dream for being a bad ass street car and easy to mod. Thank you GM and all the aftermarket people out there!

re-Tuned!!!

In early January I took the car up to the Toy Shop transmissions in Pomona. They're very well known for building solid transmissions. So they tore apart my 4L60E and threw in every upgraded part possible, including a 300M billet output shaft. This transmission should now be able to handle over 700 rwhp on a regular basis. Not that I run it WOT all the time but it's good to go.

I just took the car back to CMS (Cunningham Motorsports) in Lake Elsinore to fix the methanol injection kit. Previously it wasn't working under boost control so the tune had to be degraded until this was fixed. The guys there found a broken solder joint within the kit and also found a poor connection into the cars switched 12v power wire. Once the meth was working properly the car was ready for the dyno.

Ryne Cunningham is a good tuner and was getting a couple 550 rwhp runs it although the a/f ratio was a little bit lean for where we wanted it. So he adjusted the fueling and got the a/f right at 11.5 which is perfect for a FI car. This gave a end result of 540 rwhp and 507 rwtq. The car is very responsive and is well manured for having that kind of power. The procharger P1SC is too small for this 383 motor now and I need to upgrade it to make more boost. Currently making 9 lbs but want to be around 14 or 15. Ryne suggested a F1a and also a FMIC. So those are on my "to do list". Smile

First track day with new setup

Well the good news is that everything held together. lol Bad news....I've got more work ahead of me. For some reason the car just wasn't running fast all the way down the track. The meth wasn't coming on under boost so I was shutting down early as to avoid detonation. Hell, I ran a 12.9 letting off early and even hit the brakes too. LOL I think the transmission isn't feeling so good and I need to upgrade it. Also I need Ryne of Cunningham Motorsports to go through the tune again. But all and all everything ran well. Nothing broke and the car made it 115 miles each way to the California Speedway. Hopefully I can figure out the problem and get this thing into the high 10's or low 11's where it should be. Wink
