BowTieBear's 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

"Nukin Futz" gonna be an Ass Haulin' Hunk o' Junk

1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

About this Current Vehicle:

Meet Belle, She aint much to look at but she has it where it counts.
This car started out as another car, that car's name was Lynette. She was a bronze 1985 Z28 that was my daily driver. i as driving her to and from work 85miles each way everyday, then one day on the way home while going up a rather large hill ont that I-15 northbound from San Diego, I stepped on the gas to pass a slower car and shortly thereafter we were the slower car! Billowing clouds of white smoke exiting from the rear of this 3rd gen told me that there was a coolant problem, that turned out to be a head problem. so i had a 40 over 350 block, crank and pistons sitting on the engine stand in my garage...well the rest is history.

Lynette was a blast to drive, classic F-Body handeling, pleanty of get up and go. I spent more time running up against the speed limiter than i care to mention. It was quick enough, the best 1320 time was 13.5 in the desert in 100 deg August heat. Cheap no name street radials, a DA of about 5000ft, not to mention with my big ass in it she tipped the scales at around 4200lbs, damn T-Top cars.

Well one sumer day somethign under the hood broke and through the open cowl induction glass hood i had i could see the flicker of flame in the darkness that is usually a docile engine bay. Before i knew it Lynette was engulfed in flame bliiowing clouds of black smoke from all the plastic and fiberglass parts.

So i did the only sensable thing, i took the ca home set it up in the driveway and proceeded ot strip it of every decent and undamaged part. Block, Heads, trans, Rearend, everything i could get away with. then i called the junk man to come haul the carcass away. in the meantime i found this 86 Z28 sitting in a guys back yard on blocks. He told me his wife had run it out of coolant and seized the motor. so i offered hin 400 for wha t was left and viola, we are back in the 3rd gen business. This car was not a fully optioned Z like Lynette was, it had a drum rear end, no power mirrors, but what it did have was a TPI motor which means not wiring changes.

With that Lynette was reborne as Belle.
