Winner of the 2008 Optima Batteries Ultimate Streetcar Challenge Invitational (11-8-08)
Been working on this project for almost TWO YEARS and it's almost done. Previously it was a pro-street car with 468 big block and a TH400 trans. Weight was 3420-lbs and I hope to get that down to under 3200. Just did the scale and she's 3280 without driver. Might be time for some CF.
New drivetrain is a LS2 V8, T56 six-speed and Strange 9-inch rearend. Rear suspension is a Lateral Dynamics three-link and the front suspension uses C5 Corvette components.
The car was completed in late April '07 and it drove great. The C5 Corvette suspension performed perfectly and the Camaro is a blast to drive. Was at the '07 SEMA show in the Wilwood brakes booth.
In '08 it was invited back to SEMA and was shown in the Magnaflow booth. Right after SEMA (Nov 8th '08) she competed in the Optima Batteries Ultimate StreetCar Invitational held in Pahrump, NV. At the race 27 cars battled it out in autocross, 2.2-mile road course, and car show competitions. At the end Penny was the winner. She had the fastest lap time (1:53.66) on the road course and was beat by a mere 200ths of a second on the autocross track.
We will be back there next year to defend the title.
The steel hood is back on so the weight is now 3248, but the car is much faster now with the new front suspension parts (thanks to the help of Pozzi Racing)
None Left.. ha ha
