I bought this car from a friend in the late 90s. I was 18 at the time and barely old enough to really appreciate it. Thankfully this wasn't my first fast car, so it managed to make it past whatever stupidity was still left in me at that age.
The car was originally built for a friend's sister. In the ten years she owned it, she drove it all of 500 miles because "it's loud and the steering feels funny." So, in steps Todd after seeing opportunity come-a-knockin' and offers to buy it. Lo and behold they accept my offer and the rest is history.
There was a short "dark period" where I came close to selling it, but thankfully some inner-force kept me from actually doing it. We'll speak no more of that time....
Came with the oh-so-desirable 6 cylinder connected to a powerglide. This combination should have been criminal since I'm pretty sure gas was cheaper than water at the time.
None! I don't like big wings or fancy scoops. It will likely get aftermarket wheels at some point, but that's about it.
It looks completely factory, right down to the big wooden steering wheel. What few alterations have been done to the interior, like the MSD Digital 6, I've taken efforts to hide under the dash.
This is my area of focus. Its really nothing exotic, just an old LS6 thats been punched out to a 468 with big heads and a big cam. The heads are factory open chamber rectangles that have been ported with big valves installed, along with a nice streetable solid roller that makes power from about 3500-8000. The intake is a single plane dart and the carburetor is a 950cfm made by Quick Fuels Technology. The combination made 530rwhp.
Nothing spectacular yet, but the front springs have been changed to 750lb with adjustable spacers and Hotchkis valved Bilsteins. The rears will shortly be changed to something in the 200-225lb flavor with the same Bilsteins as above. I would also like to upgrade the bushings to Delrin style all around and maaaaaybe add tubular control arms so I can run a real tire up front.
The transmission is an LS1 style T56 that was built by sixspeedsinc.com with all the usual upgrades, including a larger 30 spline Dodge Viper output shaft. The clutch is a Mcleod street twin w/aluminum flywheel. These things are rated to 1000hp, so I've got some room to grow. Behind all that stuff is an Inland Empire 1350 aluminum driveline that connects to a 12 bolt posi rearend w/3.55 gears.
Not much to put here. My stereo is about as simple as it gets...My iPod plugs into an amp, which connects to 2 6x9 Boston Acoustic speakers. Weight is a concern, so I opted to stay away from a subwoofer. I will likely add some component 5.25 speakers up front if I can find a tasteful way to mount them that doesn't involve hacking the car up.
On the to-do list: AFR 315 CNC heads, a DSE minitub kit and some 17" or 18" wheels.
