Project Bad Penny - Vintage steel wrapped around modern performance...

About this Current Vehicle:

Been working on this project for almost TWO YEARS and it's almost done. Previously it was a pro-street car with 468 big block and a TH400 trans. Weight was 3420-lbs and I hope to get that down to under 3200. Just did the scale and she's 3180 without driver. Might be time for some CF.

New drivetrain is a LS2 V8, T56 six-speed and Strange 9-inch rearend. Rear suspension is a Lateral Dynamics three-link and the front suspension uses C5 Corvette components.

The car was completed in late April and it drove great. The C5 Corvette suspension performed perfectly and the Camaro is a blast to drive. Was at the '07 SEMA show in the Wilwood brakes booth.

Factory Options:

None Left.. ha ha

Exterior Modifications:

Mostly factory. Cowl hood and front/rear spoilers. Lots of TLC into the paint and body. Rare sheetmetal is all untouched OEM original stuff.

Marquez Design rear billet tail lights, side marker lights and other parts. Digitails LED tail lights.

Interior Modifications:

no backseat, Racepak GPS track computer, Stewart Warner gauges, Full roll cage and a Safecraft 5-lb Halon system. Also has a 2.5-pound handheld Halon extinguisher. Recaro Speed seats with Simpson harnesses keep me safe and comphy. MOMO "jet" steering wheel and shift knob.

Billet pedals by Modo Innovations (very nice!)

Performance:

Chassis dyno'd at 440 rear wheel horsepower and 396 lb-ft of torque. This was on a Mustang dyno and is a bit more than what a new C6 Z06 puts down.

Brakes: Wilwood 13-inch front rotors with 6-piston calipers, 13-inch rear rotors with 4-piston calipers. Wilwood 7/8-inch bore master cylinder with proportioning valve.

Suspension/Chassis:

Rear: Lateral Dynamics road-race three link with Varishock double-adjustable coil over shocks. Watts link centering device.

Front: Aftermarket subframe with C5 'Vette suspension parts, splined sway bar. Detroit Speed weld in subframe connectors. AGR 16.1:1 power assisted rack and pinion steering. Detroit Speed subframe connectors and billet body bushings.

18x10 and 18x12 Forgeline WC3 wheels www.forgeline.com with titanium bolts.
Toyo R-Compound R888 tires 275 front and 335 rear

Drivetrain:

LS2 6.0 L V8 - 232/234 Comp cam, AFR heads, FAST 90 mm intake, ATI dampner. Katech valve covers with coil relocation packs. Fly-by-wire electronic throttle body. AFCO radiator with electric fan. Meziere electric water pump. 90mm fly-by-wire throttle body. 1 7/8 stepped long tube headers by 21st Century Street Machines. Exhaust system, with x-pipe, by Magnaflow.

T56 Tremec six-speed tranny. McLeod clutch and lightweight billet aluminum flywheel. ATS clutch master. McLeod SFI approved bellhousing.

Strange 9-inch housing, Detroit Tru-track posi, 3.70 gears, 31 spline axles.

3.5 inch custom aluminum driveshaft from Inland Empire Driveline.

18 gallon FUEL SAFE bladdered fuel cell with internal Bosch pump. Aeromotive regulator and filters. XRP nickle-stainless fittings and braided lines.

Electronics:

None other than GPS track computer by Racepak. Will add a MP3 based simple audio system. Gotta have a few tunes for the longer cruises.

Just added a Safecraft Halon fire supression system. 5-lb bottle with three discharge heads. Two in the engine bay and one under the dash.

Oh, and an electronic trunk release from Modo Innovations.

To-Do List:

N/A

If you look in my garage you can see a rendering of my next project. It's not much now (it's a mess) but it will get there. Smile

The last autocross went really well. the new, wider, front tires paid off and the car turned in the best time of the day and I improved my time through the cones. Hope to have new video soon. I just added new pictures.
