Leave it up to Geiger Cars to build a lime green, 890-horsepower Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The force behind flamboyant creations like the Gulf-Wing Hummer and the Santa-style H2 have turned their attention to American muscle once again and have introduced an abundance of new performance parts for the Z06 featured in this over-the-top Vette.
The bi-turbo package includes an increase in displacement to 7.6-liters and upgraded cylinder heads, valve springs, cam, a larger mass air meter, and a less-restrictive exhaust system in addition to the dual turbochargers. The result is an impressive 890 horsepower and 694 lb-ft torque, as well as a reported top speed of 220 mph. The drivetrain has been beefed up accordingly with a sturdier twin-disc clutch and a carbon fiber driveshaft.
This being a Geiger effort, the car in question also features the company's body kit, adjustable coilovers, and larger brakes both front and rear. Additional details at the source.

Hit up the jump for a full press release!
Press Release:
The Corvette Z06 ClubSport package – available exclusively from Katech Performance and Les Stanford Chevrolet (Dearborn, Mich.) – incorporates an array of aftermarket products that, in unison, reduce curb weight to 2,915 lbs. (2,825 lbs. fully optimized) while improving grip, cornering, braking and downforce.
"The Z06 is already wonderfully light weight," commented Jason Harding, performance parts sales, Katech Performance. "We knew, however, that we could improve the power-to-weight ratio with several select modifications. Lamborghini has its Gallardo Superleggera, Ferrari its F430 Scuderia and Dodge its Viper ACR. Now the Corvette Z06 has the ClubSport package from Katech Performance."
What does one feed Chevrolet's already well-conditioned athlete to shed pounds and improve its game? The ClubSport diet calls for:
Brembo® Gran Turismo Brake Kit
Two-piece cross-drilled rotors significantly reduce un-sprung rotating mass; front six-piston monobloc calipers squeeze 14-inch rotors; rear four-piston monobloc calipers pinch 13.6-inch rotors
Moton Clubsport Suspension

Car and Driver thinks that the Fit is "fit" to take on slaloms, at least that's what is to believed after reading their review on Honda's hatchback.
What truly set the Fit apart was its handling — not a pretense of handling but the real deal, with springs and struts that allowed one gentle rebound and no more, the only car here that felt happy storming the switchbacks. We later confirmed this when the Fit sailed through our lane-change test 6 mph faster than anything else here — faster, in fact, than a Corvette Z06.
Clearly, the Z06 has been outdone. Let's slap a LS7 in that thing!

It's hard to add goodies to perfection but GM always manages to do so. While I may not be too keen on the new style of wheels, that color is perfect for me. The color is Cyber Gray Metallic, and also has a Blade Silver Metallic sibling. With the deletion of Machine Sliver Metallic, the Z06 exterior color palette now stands at nine colors.
Several trim and content changes are incorporated on the 2009 Z06. They include:
* New, "spider"-design 10-spoke Z06 wheel available in four versions: Sparkle Silver, Competition Gray and chrome
* Color-keyed door and instrument panels with red and titanium interiors
* Power-operated pull-down hatch now standard
* Gray stitching on Ebony base seats (previously red)
* New door sill plates with the Z06 logo
* Acoustic package standard on all Z06 models
The Z06 also receives a larger-capacity dry-sump oiling system. It upgrades to the 10.5-quart (9.9 liters) system of the new ZR1. The previous oil system held eight quarts (7.5 liters).

Being stuck in your sportscar is never a good thing. Especially if it has over 500 horsepower and the conditions outside are nasty. This poor Z06 was traveling southbound on I-65 in Bowling Green last week during a storm and lost control. From the looks of it, he managed to make it out safe. You can see the side windows were closed and still managed to shatter on impact from the front windshield being crushed inward.
Talk about being lucky!

Inspired by the Italians, the Germans from Geiger have focused on the American Model Corvette Z06, thus creating the special edition GeigerCars Corvette Z06 Black Edition.
The exterior modifications to the special edition GeigerCars Corvette Z06 Black Edition have only been made on the backend of the car, the resemblence between some of its elements and the Ferrari 599 and F430 models being quite obvious. The new car from Geiger has a spoiler which includes aerodynamic speakers, optic blocks with the LED technology and chromed exhaust pipes.

Ugur Sahin, the Dutch-based designer of the previous Ferrari Dino study, has plans to put one of his latest creations, the stunning Z03 Corvette concept into production. The car looks similar to the Dino concept, as well as the Ferrari 599-based Vandenbrink GTO but is designed around a much cheaper donor car to make it more accessible.
The Corvette Z03 concept is in fact based on a humble Corvette Z06, a car that already features an excellent chassis to build upon. Co-founder of Ugur Sahin Design, Axel van Mourik, was impressed by the Z06’s proven track record in motorsports and this ended up making it an attractive choice for the design company.
Want more details? Read after the jump!
The Z03 concept features significant modifications to the exterior as well as the engine and interior. The end result should see peak power reach close to 750hp from the LS7 V8 in a fully specced model. There will be other engine options, ranging from 500 to 750 horsepower and with three choices in total. The car is expected to weigh somewhere around 1375 kg, making it 50 pounds lighter than the Z06 although there have been other reports stating that it could be up to 100 pounds less than the Z06.
The car will be produced in a limited production run of just 100 and demand is expected to be high. The exact details surrounding the Z03 will be announced in March with deliveries for the US market expected around the end of 2008, giving the manufacturers quite an ambitious deadline.
The project has had help from various partners, including former Corvette chief engineer, Dave McLellan, which should ensure that the Z03 drives as well as it looks.

If you're like me, you love your cheap GM leather seat. I've even slept in it a few times. Some guy shares the same love and created an office chair out of one. And I want it.
This chair was custom built from an actual Corvette Z06 Leather & Foam. It has been custom mounted/fitted to a chrome base, making a wonderful office chair for our ass to enjoy. The only problem is the price. Ouch! Who wants to start making these more affordable? Count me in, seriously. My office chair is junk and I need a new one.

Chevrolet announced the 2008 Corvette 427 Limited Edition Z06, a limited-production model that pays homage to the big-block Stingray models of the mid-1960s. The 427 designation refers to the cubic-inch displacement for the highest-performance engines offered between 1966 and ’69 – and is also the cubic-inch equivalent of the Z06’s 7.0L LS7 small-block V-8.
The 427 Limited Edition Z06 features a Crystal Red Tintcoat exterior, the first Z06 ever offered with a red metallic tintcoat paint. It also features graphics on the hood and fascia that evoke the style of the famed “stinger” hood design and graphics that were offered with 1967 models equipped with the 427 engine. Also unique to this model are “427” hood badges. Each example is numbered and signed by Wil Cooksey, the Corvette assembly plant manager who is retiring after 15 years on the job, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
“The heritage of the 427 designation with the Corvette is legendary,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette product manager. “Recognizing the tie-in of the original 427 engine and the LS7’s 427-inch displacement has been on the Corvette team’s mind since the Z06 was introduced, and we’re thrilled to express it in this special model.”
For full details, hit the jump!
Available under order code Z44, this special Z06 enters production this spring. Only 427 will be offered in the United States and Canada, with 78 more exported outside North America. That’s a total of 505 production vehicles – the same number of horsepower produced by the LS7 engine.
The special-edition Corvette carries a MSRP of $84,195 and includes the 3LZ premium equipment package with a custom, leather-wrapped interior. A navigation system is the only option ($1,750). As with other Corvette models, customer delivery is available at the Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Ky.
A breakdown of the 427 Limited Edition Z06’s unique content includes:
• Crystal Red Tintcoat exterior paint with stinger-style graphics and 427 hood badges
• Exclusive, new chrome wheels
• Body-color rear spoiler and door handles
• Exclusive dark titanium custom leather-wrapped interior
• Special Crystal Red interior trim plate graphic pattern
• Console armrest signed and numbered by Wil Cooksey
• “427”-embroidered seats and floor mats
• “Z06” sill plates
The 427 Limited Edition Z06 joins the Indy 500 Pace Car replica – available in coupe and convertible configurations – as the second limited-production Corvette model introduced for 2008, giving enthusiasts and collectors a wealth of choices. In January, Chevrolet also announced the 2009 Corvette ZR1, which enters production later this summer.
“There’s never been a better time to be a Corvette enthusiast,” said Charles. “The performance and refinement are exemplary and special editions, like the 427 model, enrich the heritage of America’s sports car.”
Corvette Z06 details
The Corvette Z06 that is the foundation for the 427 Limited Edition offers carefully executed levels of capability and technology, making it one of the best performance values on the market.
The Z06’s LS7 7.0L engine reintroduced the 427-cubic-inch engine to the Corvette lineup. It uses racing-derived lightweight technology, including titanium connecting rods and intake valves, to help boost horsepower and rpm capability – it is rated at 505 horsepower (377 kW).* The only transmission offered with the Z06 is a six-speed manual.
In the car’s 3,162-pound (1,437 kg) package, the LS7 engine helps deliver 0-60 mph performance of 3.7 seconds in first gear, quarter-mile times of 11.7 seconds at 125 mph and a top speed of 198 mph (as recorded on Germany’s Autobahn) – the Z06 also circuited Germany’s famed N ü rburgring racetrack in a time of 7:43. The Z06 has a unique aluminum body structure for optimum stiffness and light weight for the fixed-roof body style. Perimeter rails are one-piece hydroformed aluminum members featuring cast suspension nodes, which replace many welded steel components on other Corvette models. Advanced structural composites featuring carbon fiber are bonded to the aluminum structure. Wider front wheelhouses, for example, are carbon composites and the passenger compartment floors combine carbon-fiber skins with an ultra-lightweight balsa wood core. A firm, race-proven suspension works harmoniously with large 18 x 9.5-inch cast-spun aluminum wheels and 275/35ZR18 tires in the front, and 19 x 12-inch cast-spun aluminum wheels with 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear to achieve lateral acceleration of more than 1 g. Complementing the suspension system and large rolling stock is an equally capable four-wheel disc brake system, consisting of 14-inch (355 mm) vented and cross-drilled front rotors and 13.4-inch (340 mm) vented and cross-drilled rear rotors.
The front rotors are acted upon by large, red-painted six-piston calipers that use six individual brake pads. Individual brake pads are used because they deliver more equalized wear compared to what would otherwise be a pair of very long single-piece pads. For the rear brakes, four-piston calipers with four individual brake pads are used. A Delphi four-channel ABS system is standard, as is a very competent active handling system – complete with a Competitive Driving mode.
History of the Corvette and the 427 engine
The Chevrolet Mark IV V-8 debuted in the Corvette in 1965 and was dubbed the big-block, because it was physically larger in all respects than Chevy’s other V-8 engine, which became known as the small-block. In ’65, the big-block was offered in a 396-cubic-inch displacement, with a maximum rating of 425 gross horsepower (317 kW). In 1966, the big-block received larger cylinder bores and grew to its legendary 427-cubic-inch form. It came in two power levels: 390 hp (291 kW) and 425 hp.
By 1967, the Corvette’s 427 engine was a legend in its own time and was offered with a unique induction system that featured an inline trio of two-barrel carburetors. Known as the “L71” (its order code), it was characterized by a large, chrome triangular air cleaner assembly. It was rated at 435 gross horsepower (324 kW). The ’67 big-block Corvettes were easily distinguished from their small-block brethren by a raised “stinger” hood.
A handful of Corvettes with the “L88”-code 427 engine slipped out of the factory in 1967, each rated at 430 horsepower (321 kW), but the L88 would be more closely associated with the redesigned 1968 and ’69 models. The L88 breathed through a single four-barrel carburetor rather than the L71’s three two-barrels. The triple-carburetor induction system was still available, however, as the Corvette was offered with both the L88 and L71 versions of the 427.
No less than six versions of the engine were offered in 1969, the final year for the 427. They included the L88, the L71 and a very rare ZL1 427 that was built with a lightweight aluminum cylinder block. Only two regular-production Corvettes were built with the ZL1 engine, putting them on the short list of the most collectible Corvettes in history.
The big-block increased in size to 454 cubic inches in 1970, and the original big-block engine family exited the Corvette lineup after the 1974 model year. The 2008 Corvette Z06’s LS7 engine offers big-block displacement and horsepower, but in a more efficient small-block architecture.
*SAE certified.

Hello! This Lingenfelter monster can do 0-200 mph in 18.34 seconds on 93 octane pump gas. Standing mile in 25.12 seconds at 226.25. Power levels include 1,100 HP rear wheel on 93 octane and 1,300 HP rear wheel on race gas 23 psi boost. Based on horsepower and drag of the vehicle. calculated top speed of roughly 300 MPH!
This Corvette is not a stripped down race car and still has the full interior, stock seats & air conditioning. The car still has the factory style independent rear suspension and could be a daily driver. The car is fitted with a Lingenfelter six point roll bar with side bar swing outs and Simpson 5 point harnesses. The tires used where standard production Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, mounted on HRE 840R series wheels.
This run beats our previous 2006 Motor Trend Shoot out run with a 2005 Corvette Twin Turbo that ran 211 MPH in the standing mile. The last time a LPE Corvette went 226 MPH was back in March 2000 where we took a 1999 Corvette 650 HP Twin Turbo on the 7.5 mile long high bank oval track in Ohio. This car with John Lingenfelter driving was going more than 200 MPH coming out of the number four turn then the car hit 226 MPH before letting up for the next turn.
Note: The runway was very dusty & still had ice removal residue left on it that can be seen kicking up behind the car.

At this week’s SEMA Auto Show GM will be emphasizing its ‘green’ performance credentials by unveiling a slew of modified cars capable of using E85 ethanol plus several ultra-efficient sports cars. In amongst the field of concept and production vehicles will be Jay Leno’s modified C6RS Corvette, an 8.2L beast with over 600hp on tap.
To live up to the green image, Leno and motorsport company Pratt & Miller modified the Corvette Z06 to run on E85 ethanol. More than merely a conversion of the stock LS7 engine to E85 capability, Leno’s alternative-fuel supercar is powered by a custom, 8.2L all-aluminum small-block V8 that pumps out approximately 600hp and 792Nm (585lb-ft) of torque.
The engine is built around a custom aluminum cylinder block that was CNC-milled from a single block of billet aluminum. Its cylinder heads, intake system and dry-sump oiling system are stock LS7 components but the bore and stroke dimensions are larger than those of the stock 7.0L motor. Also new are the forged crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons.
Another E85-fueled vehicle GM has prepped for SEMA is the FlexFuel Chevy Hot Rod, a recreation of the hot rods that competed at early drag strips and land-speed venues of the late 1940s and 1950s. The new car is built by GM Performance Division and takes its inspiration from a 1934 Chevy but it’s powered by a modern a 500hp turbocharged Ecotec engine running on E85, petrol, or any combination of the two.

First, the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe: 8.4-liter V10, 600 horsepower, 560 pound-feet of torque and an as-tested weight of 3,437 pounds. Those numbers, friend, are ridiculous. And they make the Viper the highest-displacement, most powerful naturally aspirated car we've ever tested. Combined with its crushing road presence, they define it as America's most soulful supercar.
The 2007 Chevy Corvette Z06 is nearly as impressive: 7.0-liter V8, 505 hp, 470 lb-ft of torque and 3,222 pounds. Or, to put it another way, a sports car with a power-to-weight ratio marginally better than a full-blown monster truck. A very serious machine.
Driving either is like combining that first date with a randy prom queen with the physics-defying performance of a 1,000cc sport bike. You can hardly wait to get to the action and then, when it starts, you're so scared you want it to stop. These cars are about speed. Pure speed.
And so is this test. Edmunds compares these two and gives the Viper the edge. The Viper is just flat scary. Loud, rough, hot as hell and faster than a Z06, it wins this test because it deserves to — because it's badass and it's not afraid to admit it.
The Z06 faithful, on the other hand, are simply involved. They walked the fine line between undiluted insanity and marginal practicality and decided that practicality was the better choice. Good for them. Their Z06 is among the quickest street cars ever built, and it'll never burn their legs.
