Project Gotham did it. Burnout did it. So if Gran Turismo creator Kasunori Yamauchi is toying with the idea of putting motorcycles into Gran Turismo, you can't say it's without precedent.
In an interview with IGN, the Polyphony Digital boss was asked about the possibility of bikes making their way into the game, to which he responded "If that's what users really want in the game, I think that's a possibility. Or we could consider making a Tourist Trophy 2 as well."
Might be best sticking to TT2. GT5 is late enough as it is.

A lot. But not the highest amount.

When asked by AutoWeek about the game's budget, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi dropped this price tag: $60 million.
"There are other games that cost more," Yamauchi added. "Considering the size and scale of the game, I think it's probably a fairly small amount."
Other games that cost more? Games like Shenmue or Grand Theft Auto IV?
With Polyphony Digital's know-how and expertise, the game probably cost less that it could have considering the lengthy development cycle. But then again, GT5 is apparently 50 times more than the first Gran Turismo. We're not sure if that amount includes marketing and what not.
If Yamauchi and his team curbed the dev cycle and turned around the game in a more timely fashion, they could has brought down the game's budget even more. Not our money, though! Perhaps the inevitable GT6 won't take as long — or cost as much.

Even though we know the winners, it's nice seeing the spread that was out there racing.
Unfortunately, it's nothing like his old one.

The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien last night. The comic host still owns and drives his beloved 1992 SHO, claiming it's the finest car ever built, so Ford invited him to Galpin Motors in Los Angeles to check out the new one. Amy Marentic from Ford is his tour guide and does a great job keeping up with the jokes, at one point refusing to massage Conan's neck where the multi-contoured massaging seats won't reach.
After trying out the new SHO, Conan shows Amy what's up with a tour of his own 1992 SHO – "The Beast" – that's parked right beside. We won't ruin all the laughs for you, suffice it to say that Ford got some sweet product placement in a skit that makes you chuckle more than it tries to sell you a car. Hit the jump for the video!

On its way to doing the 1/4-mile in 11.07 seconds at 128 mph, a Hennessey-tuned 700-horsepower Cadillac CTS-V hit .99 longitudinal G as it left the start line. By the end of the run the phone inside the car was ringing, and it was your friendly neighborhood OnStar representative wondering "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ok, not quite... but they did have some questions. Follow the jump to watch the video.
If so, at least we finally have a date to mark on our calendars.

Looks like it'll be March 2010. We still have awhile. Guess we can kill some time with Forza3. Amirite? Might as well preorder it. It'll come out SOMETIME before 2012. We hope!

The light has been yellow for too long, and you're not making it through the intersection before it's red. But either you don't notice or you don't care. But even though your foot is on the gas, the car brakes. Mercedes-Benz is experimenting with this very scenario at their R&D facility in Palo Alto.
Using a smart intersection, the light essentially communicates with the car. And if the driver still isn't responsive to, say, brake after several warnings of a red light, the car can stop itself. (Start the clip around 50 seconds in for the full demo.)
Mercedes-Benz admits that, though the technology is "almost there," we're still a decade out from its deployment. After all, every stoplight in America would need an upgrade to smart intersection status (for which there are no agreed standards). Plus, given that these intersections would cost money that would surely be lost through less tickets, it's hard to imagine where the money will come from. Video in the jump!

During an SCEJ press event this afternoon at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony finally announced a release date for Gran Turismo 5. And it's not in 2009.
The game will be out in Japan in March 2010. Which is still months away. A shame, we know, but then, GT fans have been waiting years for this. They can wait a little longer.
Only the Japanese date was revealed. If any info on a Western release pops up, we'll let you know.
