The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that it will launch an investigation on Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks. This investigation impacts 362,000 vehicles in the 2006 and 2007 model years.
There have been many customer complaints about the trucks regarding unintentional acceleration. The problem usually occurs as a quick acceleration surge while motionless and idling in gear, however there have also been reports of the problem occurring while braking and at other times as well.
Toyota has had similar problems in the past with its Prius and Lexus ES vehicles due to defective floor mats. But since the NHTSA is involved, the problem with these trucks is more complicated.
I want to stop, but my Tacoma won't let me. Sadness!
