After all the waiting and development, Hennessey has finally unveiled the new 2010 HPE700 LS9 Chevrolet Camaro that will be introduced at the 2009 SEMA show next week. Hennessey will only make 24 units of the HPE700 and 10 of them have already been sold.
Based on the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS with a 6-speed manual transmission, the HPE700 features a LS9 6.2L Supercharged with intercooler allowing a total of 725-hp with a maximum torque of 741 lb-ft. 0-60 mph comes in just 3.5 seconds while the quarter mile run takes 11.3 seconds at 126 mph. Stopping power comes from Brembo brakes that bring the HPE700 from 60-0 mph in 104 ft.
Hennessey says that it is also offering a 850-hp twin-turbo upgrade and a 1,000-hp twin-turbo upgrade.

On its way to doing the 1/4-mile in 11.07 seconds at 128 mph, a Hennessey-tuned 700-horsepower Cadillac CTS-V hit .99 longitudinal G as it left the start line. By the end of the run the phone inside the car was ringing, and it was your friendly neighborhood OnStar representative wondering "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ok, not quite... but they did have some questions. Follow the jump to watch the video.

You’ve already seen the new Hennessey HPE550 Camaro pump out a whopping 562-hp. It is basically the car that helped us get over the fact that the official Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will be delayed. Guess what? Hennessey has no plans to stop at 562-hp.
The tuner has just announced plans for a new high-performance Camaro - the HPE650. Modifications will help this supercharged Camaro produce a total of 655-hp with a maximum torque of 642 lb-ft. Can we get one with the Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee package please?
Oh and don’t worry - if 650-hp isn’t enough for you - Hennessey also offers the HPE700 which uses the LS9 Supercharged V8 that is found in the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The engine produces 705-hp with a peak torque of 717 lb-ft. Prices start at $39,500.
Hennessey is also offering 850-hp and a 1,000-hp twin-turbo package for $54,500 and $59,500, respectively. Video in the jump!

It's been two long years since John Hennessey announced plans to build his very own supercar, and people were beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. Apparently, Hennessey's plans are still a go as the Texas tuner just announced through its newsletter that the Venom GT will make its official public debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Since the initial press release, Hennessey has made a few changes to the car's proposed specs. Listed curb weight has dropped from 2700 to 2400 lbs and the engine is now a "Hennessey V8" rather than a twin-turbo Viper V10. Power rating is "up to 1,200 bhp" rather than the initially stated 1,000 and top speed has been listed as 272 mph. No matter what the final specifications, it sounds like the Venom GT will be sure to impress.

This could be the ultimate ZR1.

Hennessey Performance Engineering makes the point that track-oriented Porsche owners can opt up from a normal 911 to a GT3 RS and Viper owners can choose the ACR edition, so what's out there for ZR1 owners who want a more hardcore machine? To answer that question, HPE has introduced the Z700 for 2010.
The exclusive new model features a number of enhancements that go beyond the requisite power increase, which in this case jumps from 638 to 705 dyno-tuned hp. HPE has also put the ZR1 on a diet, shedding pounds by adding lightweight carbon fiber seats and carbon fiber wheels wrapped in a Michilin Pilot Cup Sport tires. The wheels alone scrub off 60 lbs. of rotating weight. Aero enhancements include Hennessey's Z-Aero carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler, all of which add 300 lbs. of downforce. Finally, an alcantara steering wheel and shift knob should feel better in the hand when barnstorming the track.
Hennessey plans to prove that the Z700 is a big improvement over the ZR1 by taking direct aim at the standard car's Nürburgring lap time of 7:26. They'll be flying to Germany with a Z700 later this year to take their best shot, but considering that HPE is perhaps the only only tuning company with its very own on-site track, Lonestar Motorsports Park, we expect good results.
Only 24 examples will be produced, and customers who order a Z700 also get a one-day performance driving instruction course at Lonestar Motorsports Park. Total cost for a base Z700 will start at $207,150, which also includes the cost of a donor ZR1. That's nearly a six-figure increase over the base price of a ZR1.

A battle in the making. Who will be victorious?

The next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z28 won’t arrive until 2011 - some time after the convertible Camaro makes its debut. That will give the 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 some time to eat up some of the high-performance muscle car segment. However, if you can’t wait until ’some time after 2011,’ Hennessey is offering its HPE550 performance package for the Camaro that takes output up to 562-hp (the Camaro Z28 is rumored to get the 556-hp 6.2L LSA V8 supercharged engine from the Cadillac CTS-V).
The folks at Inside Line happened to have the new 2010 Shelby GT500 and Hennessey’s HPE550 on hand at the same time and decided to put the two high-performance muscle cars head-to-head.

The 6 pounds of boost heaving into the 6.2-liter LS3 are enough to swell output from the stock 426 horsepower at the crank to a monstrous 562 hp, according to Mr. Hennessey. On the Dynojet chassis dyno at MD Automotive, however, the HPE550 ripped the rollers to the tune of 559 hp at the wheels.
At the test track, the blast from zero to 60 mph took a deliriously brief 4.3 seconds (4.0 seconds with 1 foot of roll out like on a drag strip) and the quarter-mile blurs by in just 12.1 seconds at 120.1 mph. It's an absolutely scalding performance and it's a full four-tenths quicker to 60 than a stock Camaro SS and nearly a full second quicker in the quarter-mile. Most impressively, that 120.1-mph trap speed is 9.2 mph faster than stock. Zounds upon zounds, this thing is rapid.

As if the 556-hp 6.2L V8 in the Cadillac CTS-V wasn’t powerful enough already, Hennessey has went ahead and created a more powerful version of the Caddy beast giving those looking for (if you will) a ZR1 Sedan.
First in the lineup is the V600 package, which give the CTS-V a total of 610-hp allowing for a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.7 seconds (base CTS-V goes from rest to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds) with a top speed of 195-mph. Hennessey is offering 40 more horsepower with the V650 package.
Those looking for insane power can opt for the V700 package which allows for 700-hp. 0 to 60 mph comes in 3.1 seconds. A V800 package is also available allowing for 800-hp and a maximum torque of 780 lb-ft. Check out a video in the jump!

Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), well known for their extreme performance sports cars and muscle cars, announces their Limited Edition 2010 HPE550 Camaro.
At the heart of the beast is a supercharger system added atop the LS3 V8 making 6 psi boost combined with a Corsa stainless steel exhaust system and custom engine management calibration from HPE. This upgrade system results in 562 bhp and 557 lb-ft torque. Rounding out the package, HPE adds a set of light weight 20 inch wheels, Hennessey's Cam-Aero ™ body upgrades include: Rear lip spoiler, carbon side rocker panels and front splitter, Hennessey graphics package and premium floor mats.
Hennessey plans to offer up to 500 units for the 2010 model year. Each HPE550 will come with its own unique serial number which will be displayed on a plaque located on the dash and under the hood. Other options available from HPE include: Larger brakes, suspension upgrades, upgraded interiors along with larger wheels and tires. HPE will also be offering more powerful engine upgrades including twin turbo systems producing up to 1000 hp.
HPE is also offering a modified version of the LS9 motor which currently powers the 638 bhp Corvette ZR1. The company has been testing their 705 bhp variant of the LS9 since February using retired GM engineer and racer, John Heinricy as their development engineer and test driver. Heinricy recently drove Hennessey's ZR1 at the Texas Mile to a record setting speed of 196.7 mph in the standing mile.
"The HPE550 upgrade package gives 2010 Camaro owners the kind of power they are going to want, especially when they roll up on a Shelby GT500 Mustang", said John Hennessey, President and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering. "We will also be offering an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts and accessories for the 2010 Camaro. From mild to wild, new Camaro owners will be able to order air induction systems, exhaust and header systems as well as supercharger systems, suspension kits and more.
HPE550 buyers will also receive a 1/2-day performance driving course at Lonestar Motorsports Park – a ¼ mile dragstrip facility located adjacent to Hennessey's 24,000 square foot production facility and showroom. The HPE550 Camaro is available from select Chevrolet dealers as well as directly from Hennessey Performance Engineering. Production will begin in May, 2009 and orders are now being taken.

Hennessey Performance Engineering is claiming to have built the fastest R35 Nissan GT-R in the world.
Using its GTR700 upgrade kit (which adds turbos, inter-coolers, blowoff valve and electronic boost controller), Hennessey’s Nissan GT-R produces 725-hp with a maximum torque of 630 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 60 mph run in just 2.8 seconds.
The top speed record was set at the March Texas Mile event where the Hennessey tuned GT-R went from 0 to 193.7 mph in 1mile. The Hennessey GTR700 can be purchased for $18,500 or $24,500 installed.

In the quasi-official world of production car Nürburgring lap times, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 sits in fifth place. Ahead of the 638-hp monster are three Italians (the Enzo and its MC12 sibling, and a Zonda F Clubsport) and, in first place, the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR. This isn’t good enough for John Hennessey.

Hennessey and team plan to assault the 12.9-mile Green Hell with a special version of the ZR1, one which should look like the renderings you see here. We'll have more details soon, but the “ZR700” license plate and ventilated hood should hint at the engine’s important features -- the standard Hennessey ZR700 packs a whopping 705 hp, and this car appears to be far from standard. John Heinricy, whose previous job duties involved shuffling GM performance vehicles around the ‘Ring, will perform driving duties.

John Heinricy, who retired after working with GM for 38-years, recently got behind the wheel of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 with a Hennessey ZR700 package.
The former head of GM Performance Division and chief engineer of the new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V and ZR1, tested his skills on the 705-hp ZR1 to see what Hennessey came up with.
The Hennessey ZR700 package allows the ZR1 go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 212 mph. A second package, known as the ZR750 makes a total of 755-hp and 730 lb-ft of torque. That allows the ZR1 to run from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph.
