Official 2010 Corvette Grand Sport Pricing Release
According to Dave Salvatore of Kerbeck Corvette, pricing for the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport has been released. When the Grand Sport was introduced at the National Corvette Museum in April, Team Corvette members Harlan Charles and Tadge Juechter both said that people will be pleased when the final price is announced. Having seen the numbers, we see again why Corvette beats all sports cars in the performance per dollar category. Find out in the jump!

2010 Corvette Grand Sport Pricing:

* 2010 Grand Sport Coupe starts at $55,720 including DFC
* 2010 Grand Sport Convertible starts at $59,530 including DFC

Going off the current year pricing, that's $6,205 more than the base Coupe and $5,360 for the base Convertible. Taking into account that we are expecting to see a pricing increase on the base coupe and convertibles, as well as the fact that the Grand Sport takes the place of the Z51 option which costs $1,695 and you are essentially looking at $3,665-4510 upgrade for the new wide-body design, complete with Z06 brakes, tuned suspension and a better 0-60 mph performance of 4.0 vs 4.2.

A quick check on some of the forums show that people are generally pleased with the pricing of the new model. Considering that most garage wide body conversions cost around $10,000, this new model should sell well.

Pricing on the Corvette models for 2010 should be forthcoming shortly which will also include pricing for the Z15 GS Heritage Package which will be available sometime in the fall.

Chevy Corvette Grand Sport returns for 2010!

Meet the newest Corvette flavor.

Chevy Corvette Grand Sport returns for 2010!
Chevy is bringing back the Corvette Grand Sport, and unlike the one offered at the end of the C4's run in the mid-Nineties, this one sports a long list of performance upgrades that would make even Zora Arkus-Duntov proud. Rather than treating this revival as a special model with a limited run, Chevy has decided to ditch the Z51 package entirely and offer the Grand Sport that pushes the standard Vette's performance even closer to that of the Z06.

While the 430-hp (436-hp with the two-mode exhaust) LS3 V8 remains unchanged, wider front and rear fenders allow for 18- (front) and 19-inch (rear) wheels that are also wider than before. Larger brakes are included and the special suspension tuning is now even closer to that of the Z06. You'll also notice other Z06 elements like the front splitter, rear spoiler and functional brake ducts behind the doors. Unlike the Z06, you can order a Grand Sport with a manual transmission or the Vette's six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. If you're a true track hound, though, go with the manual that also comes with a dry-sump oil system, differential cooler and rear-mounted battery.

Though available as a convertible, coupe models also feature a removable roof. The Grand Sport can also be had in all four Corvette trim levels (1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT) and any standard Corvette color, and a special heritage package gives a nod to the past by adding a pair of hash marks to the front fenders. The new Grand Sport is being announced at the 12th annual C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky as we speak and pricing has yet to be announced, so stay tuned.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Details
At this weekend’s Concours d’Elegance classic car show in Pebble Beach, California, Bugatti performed the world debut of the all-new Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. The open-top Veyron comes equipped with a removable lightweight transparent polycarbonate roof as well as with an emergency soft top that can be used to protect driver and passenger from sudden rainfall. According to Bugatti’s own words, the soft can be “stowed in the trunk like an umbrella”.

Powered by the same 1,001 HP quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine as the coupe, the world’s fastest convertible can achieve a top speed of 253 mph or 406 km/h with the polycarbonate roof in its place. Take the top off and the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport won’t let you go over 217 mph or 349 km/h. If you decide to use the soft top, the car’s top speed is limited to a mere 80 mph or 130 km/h. More in the jump!

In comparison to the Veyron coupe, the most noticeable differences on the Gran Sport are its higher windshield, newly designed LED headlights and the new horseshoe-style wheels.

The most important changes however are under the skin as the carbon fibre monocoque was substantially reinforced to cope with the structural loss of the open roof. According to Bugatti, the monocoque structure was reinforced around the side skirts and the transmission tunnel while the B-pillars were cross-stiffened using a carbon fibre support. Moreover, the redesigned air inlets now feature 10cm wide carbon fiber elements that provide protection in the event of rollover.

Other features new to the Gran Sport include a reverse camera with 2.7 inch monitor integrated in the rearview mirror and a “Puccini” sound system, specifically design for convertibles.

Bugatti will hand-build a total of 150 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports with deliveries scheduled to begin from March 2009. The first 40 cars are reserved exclusively for current Bugatti customers with the exception of the first car that was auctioned off at the Gooding Auction on 17 August 2008 with all profits going to a charitable foundation.
