2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring Reveal
Love the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but looking for a little more refinement and class? Until now, Mitsubishi offered only two variants of the Lancer Evolution sedan including the GSR and MR. Well, meet the new 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring, the range topping Evo with a $40,990 price-tag that moves the hot Mitsubishi sedan into luxury car territory.

The two biggest differences you’ll notice between the GSR, MR and the MR Touring trim-levels are the MR Touring’s standard power glass sunroof and the standard lip spoiler. All that is sent to the wheels through a 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission with magnesium steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. edo competition Enzo XX Evolution makes 840HP

Wow-wow-weee-wow.

edo competition Enzo XX Evolution makes 840HP
edo competition seems to have a fetish with the Ferrari Enzo. They revealed a tuning package last year that increased horsepower of the 660-hp supercar to 700-hp. Somewhere in the middle, edo competition also revealed a performance package that took horsepower up to 800. While that would be enough for many Enzo owners (and there aren’t many) out there, edo felt it could get a little more out of the ultimate Ferrari.

edo decided to increase displacement to 6.3L, added new camshafts, new titanium valve springs, modified cylinder heads, high flow catalytic converters, a more powerful oil pump, high performance exhaust headers and we’ll stop before start sounding like Megan Fox from Transformers. All that increased output by 180 to a total of 840-hp with a maximum torque of 575 lb-ft.

The edo competition Enzo XX Evolution now goes from 0 to 62 mph to come in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of more than 242 mph.

First Lotus Evora delivered to customer
Lotus has delivered its first Evora to Matthew Melling of Twickenham, UK. Melling took the keys to his new Storm Titanium Evora from Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus Cars Limited at the Lotus Headquarters.

“I was determined to be the first in the world to get my hands on an Evora so with Stratton Motor Company’s help, I laid down my deposit within seconds of the order books being opened last year,” said Melling. “I have read all the press reviews of the Evora and am so excited about getting behind the wheel - what a great start to September!”

Lotus said that it has received orders for the next 5 months of production. It said that demand for the Evora has been so high that 150 extra new manufacturing staff have been recruited to support assembly operations in Norfolk, UK.

Lots of horsepower. Lots of money.

650 horsepower 8.4L V10 Devon GTX priced at $500G
So far we’ve seen many images of the Devon GTX and we’ve heard that it will go into production during the first quarter of 2010. However, we never really heard official details on what the Devon GTX was capable of performance wise… until now.

This past weekend, at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Devon Motorworks revealed the official technical specs of the GTX. Power comes from a 8.4L V10 engine making 650-hp at 6,100 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives power to the wheels. We’re still waiting for confirmation on a 0 to 60 and top speed data.

Devon Motorworks says it will produces only 36 units of the GTX annually at its facility in southern California. Prices will start at $500,000 with an optional racing package offered for $25,000. The vehicles will be sold and serviced directly through Devon Motorworks.

Lotus Evora called UKs best drivers car by Autocar

Lotus Evora called UKs best drivers car by Autocar
The gang at Autocar have singled out the new Lotus Evora as the best drivers car in the U.K. for 2009. The award came following an evaluation that included the 2010 Nissan GT-R and nine other new models launched in the past year. The defending champ GT-R dropped all the way to fourth in this year's roundup following the new Lotus, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage and the Porsche 911 GT3. The key to the Evora's victory appears to have been its impressive handling capabilities and in particular its forgiving nature.

Apparently, potential buyers agree with the assessment from Autocar as demand for the Evora has been so great that Lotus has had to to increase its manufacturing staff by 30 percent. The Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 also allows Lotus to get some pretty decent fuel economy of the Evora – a combined 27 mpg (US) on the EU test cycle.

Devon GTX sets one-lap

Tags: devon, devon gtx, racing, exotic, domestic, supercar

Devon GTX sets one-lap
It's been speculated that the GTX is powered by Viper, meaning there's an 8.4-liter V10 beating under its presumably carbon fiber skin. Word overheard on the street is that the serpent heart has been reworked to spit out 650 horsepower, 50 more venomous ponies than stock. And that's all anyone knows. Maybe.

Southern California-based industrial design haus Devon Motorworks is claiming that its new car – the "next American Supercar" – just set a "production car" one-lap record around the fabled Lagauna Seca race track. Time? 1:35.075. Is the more powerful Devon GTX only one tenth of a second quicker than the big Dodge around a two-mile track? Couldn't the wind account for that much time? Or a few birds flapping their wings? A larger point is that this particular lap attempt was closed to the public and (presumably) conducted by Devon. The Devon GTX, it will be making its debut next weekend at Pebble Beach. Cars should be available for public consumption come quarter one of 2010.

Devon GTX Sets One-Lap Record at Laguna Seca (August 06, 2009) Public, press to see first glimpse of American supercar on hallowed Pebble Beach grounds Production to begin in first quarter of 2010 August 5, 2009 (Los Angeles) The all-new Devon GTX supercar has yet to be introduced to the public but that didn't stop it from making news. In testing at the famed Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, the first vehicle from California-based industrial design house Devon Motorworks (devonmotorworks.com) turned in a production car lap record time of 1:35.075. Already recognized for its breakthrough design, the Devon GTX record lap demonstrates the GTX will stand on its own with the world's best supercars.

While this testing session was closed to the public, the rest of the world will see the Devon GTX in person for the first time when it makes its debut at the Pebble Beach Councours d'Elegance on August 15, 2009.

"The Laguna Seca test session showed us just a glimpse of what the Devon GTX is capable of from a performance perspective," said Devon Motorworks CEO and founder Scott Devon. "Through further validation and testing, we know this car is capable of even greater lap times and making an even stronger statement about the future of the American supercar."

The test session at Laguna was the most recent in a series of rigorous validation sessions for the Devon GTX as the team builds to its public introduction in mid-August at the famed Pebble Beach event.

"There is no more important event in the world for cars in this class," Devon added. "We realize that – by introducing the Devon GTX at the Concours d'Elegance – we are asking the world's automotive elite to bless this car. With its bold design and outstanding performance characteristics, we are quite confident we will earn their approval."

Two key activities will highlight an exciting weekend for the Devon GTX:

On Saturday, August, 15, media will get the first live look at the Devon GTX at a press event on the Concours Ramp at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. The event will be hosted by Scott Devon and will feature key members of the Devon Motorworks team. Pricing and specifications will also be revealed at the event. The following day, on Sunday, August 16, 2009, visitors to the Concours d'Elegance will see the Devon GTX as it takes its place next to some of the most exciting classic and all-new marks on the famed putting green at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Following an exciting and busy weekend, the Devon Motorworks team will return to its Los Angeles headquarters to prepare the first production vehicles for sale to the public. The first Devon GTX will make its street introduction in the first quarter of 2010.

The 300-hp 2.5L 5-cylinder Duratec engine under the hood of the 2009 Ford Focus RS definitely gives it an edge over many of its rivals. Lotus releases package details on 2010 Evora

A new light-weight contender.

Lotus releases package details on 2010 Evora
The first production examples of the Lotus Evora have now started down the build process with its aluminum chassis being fabricated at Lotus Lightweight Structures in Worcester, UK and final assembly taking place at Lotus' Hethel factory. With the first cars scheduled to be delivered to customers in May, Lotus has released content lists for the Evora. The 276-hp Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 with a 6-speed manual gearbox is standard. A close-ratio version of the gearbox will be available as an option. Cast 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloys shod with Yokohama Advan Sport LTS rubber are the standard fitment, while forged wheels are available for an extra cost.

Other notable options include bi-xenon lights, power folding mirrors and body color door handles. In typical contemporary fashion, the Evora can also be ordered with Tech, Sport and Premium packages that lump the usual assortment of audio, navigation and interior trim upgrades together. The Sport pack also provides a switch that enables sharper throttle response and more slip from the traction control system, among other performance enhancements.

Lotus is planning to ramp Evora production up to 34 units per week by July, assuming of course that economic conditions allow for sufficient demand.

Lancer Evolution on Hiatus for 2009

Timeout for a Mitsubishi model.

Tags: mitsubishi, lancer, evolution, import

Lancer Evolution on Hiatus for 2009
You should probably get used to seeing posts like this – we’re sure more are coming. Like the Saturn Astra, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will take a breather for 2009. According to Mitsubishi spokeswomen Christine Jew, there were no changes planned for a 2009 Evo, and there was enough inventory to last until the 2010 model is released later this year. Cars.com’s listings show 887 Lancer Evolutions from the 2008 model year still available.

While Mitsubishi doesn’t break down sales by model, we concur with the automaker that its supply of Evos should suffice; at $30,000-$40,000 the Evo is Mitsubishi’s most expensive offering. Don’t think this means the Evo is a sales laggard, however; sales were up 50.9% for 2008, Mitsubishi says. When the 2010 Lancer Evolution goes on sale, there will be a few minor changes, Jew said.

Ultimate Mitsubishi Evo launched

New FQ400 gets big power increase, at a price!

Tags: mitsubishi, evo, fq400, import

Ultimate Mitsubishi Evo launched
Feast your eyes on the most powerful Evo yet! These official pictures show the FQ400 – the latest incarnation of Mitsubishi’s four-wheel-drive super-saloon. And it’s clear the new flagship model is nearly ready to roll. It looks even more muscular than its predecessor, and fans can expect the FQ400 to have mind-blowing performance, too. The 2.0-litre engine develops 405bhp, and offers 405Nm of torque at around 3,500rpm.

This amazing powerplant is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and will propel the newcomer from 0-60mph in only 3.5 seconds, leaving the existing range-topper – the FQ360 – in its wake! Uprated brakes bring the Evo to a firm halt. The FQ400 gets a fresh look, and now incorporates lightweight body panels.

Extra engine cooling is provided by vents positioned between the front foglamps, as well as ahead of the bonnet. The side sills are also new, while the standard model’s twin exhaust system has been ditched in favour of a dramatic, wide-mouthed, single pipe.

The FQ400 is scheduled to go on sale in the UK in March – although if you want one, you will need to put your name down now. Top brass at Mitsubishi say the limited run of 100 cars is likely to sell out before it even hits the showroom floor. This is despite the fact that the newcomer carries an eye-watering price. The FQ400 is likely to weigh in at just under $73,000.

Mitsubishi Evo X FQ400 is go!

A 400HP Evolution X will be produced.

Tags: mitsubishi, evo, evolution x, import

Mitsubishi Evo X FQ400 is go!
It’s the news that all Evo X fans have been waiting for – Mitsubishi will be turning the wick up on the latest incarnation of its four-wheel drive super saloon with a range topping FQ400 version.

Following on from the FQ300 and FQ360, the flagship is due on sale next year and was given the green light by bosses after Mitsubishi successfully campaigned a 400bhp Evo X in the Britcar 24hr race at Silverstone recently.

The car, which was prepared by ADR Motorsport – the same team that already builds the two works Evo Xs competing in the British Rally Championship – run faultlessly throughout the tough event with BTCC James Kaye at the wheel.

There aren’t any firm details about the road-going version’s engine just yet, but to produce around 400bhp, it’s likely to boast a new turbocharger, new exhaust manifold as well as a heavily revised ECU and fuel system.

Performance will be mind-blowing – expect 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 170mph. It is likely to come with a manual gearbox as standard, uprated suspension, mild visual tweaks and bigger brakes too. The price? Expect to pay around $79,000. That is no typo!

Evora is the new name of the Lotus 2+2 GT car

The new hand-crafted Lotus gets a name.

Tags: lotus, evora, roadster, cool, european

Evora is the new name of the Lotus 2+2 GT car
Lotus has revealed the new name of its latest model, a 2+2 GT that made its official debut today at the London Motor Show. The car will from now be known as the ‘Evora’ (named after a city in Portugal) and it joins the ranks of Lotus’ existing models, including the Elise, Exige and Europa. The new Evora is the first all-new car from Lotus since the introduction of the Elise back in 1995, and it’s the only sports car on the market with a mid-engine layout and a 2+2 seating configuration.

While Lotus’ current offerings are designed primarily with race track intentions, including the GT-styled Europa - which is largely based on the Elise - the new Evora is designed for people seeking real-world usability matched with stunning design and performance. Specs and more info after the jump!

Powered by a 3.5L V6 producing 276hp (206kW), the new car employs innovative lightweight chassis technology for first-rate track performance but with ride and handling more akin to a luxury model. Despite the wider target audience expected for the Evora, Lotus claims the car is considerably faster around Germany’s benchmark Nurburgring circuit than the Elise and more stable than the Exige. The engine in the Evora is based on Toyota’s global 3.5L V6 but has been extensively modified for application in the Lotus. Engineers are still working on the car’s final specifications but early indications suggest a maximum speed of close to 260km/h and a 0-100km/h time of less than five seconds.

In keeping with its luxury overtones, the Evora features plenty of leather and aluminum surfaces in its interior. The dashboard will be dominated by a stylized speedometer and rev counter, backlit with blue LEDs, and all controls are positioned towards the driver in true sports car tradition. Other details include figure hugging bucket seats, hand-stitched leather and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The Evora will also come with a 7-inch touchscreen multi-media system with satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

As well as being sold in a 2+2 configuration, the car will also be available as a two-seater with extra storage space located behind the seats. The rear seats will be strictly for children or small adults. Other derivatives are also planned for the future, including a convertible and a high-performance variant.

Anti-lock brakes are standard on all models, as are traction and stability control. These systems have been specially developed in co-operation with Bosch to provide enhanced safety features whilst maintaining performance characteristics.

Deliveries in Europe will start in the first half of next year, with only 2,000 of the hand crafted cars planned each year.

Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley describes the new Evora as the biggest milestone ever achieved by the company since the Elise was born 13 years ago, but he hinted that this is just the start of things to come. He reaffirmed his earlier comments that Lotus is executing a five year plan that will see the launch of two additional models.
