Stop with the speculation bs!
Even if it was just to 2.99 I would be happy with that over what im paying now...3.99.
PASS IT! PASS IT! PASS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweet nectar....please....Im with SlvrV6Camaro, 2.99 is even great. Im tired of 4.50 for premium...it hurts my butt as well as my wallet...which lives kinda near my butt...its double butt pain
So who do we call or write???? This needs to happen if it's really going to drop gas prices. I'm looking at getting a job closer to home despite the fact that I really like my current job just so I can save on fuel since there is no mass transportation from my town to where I work.
Unfortunately, the oil companies are loving the speculative investors as it is driving their profits to record numbers. I think big oil has purchased enough politicians on both sides of the political line to ensure this will have difficulty passing. Even if it passes and crude does fall, I doubt we'll see the savings at the pump for quite some time as the oil cartel will want to retain some of their high profit margins as long as possible. While I have my doubts, this does seem to be the best plan of action I have seen so far!
@SlvrV6Camaro & CamaroZach: agreed...$2.99 would make me ecstatic! i just gassed up my little SS this morning with premium (that's a turbo for ya) and it cost me $4.759!!
OMG, Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease pass it.
paying for something would be much better than paying for something + a whole lot of nothing.
Here's hoping it goes through and Canada follows along.
wont happen with Bush in office. Him and his buddys are making bank right now.
If people know about this and it doesn't pass people are gonna freak out. I wish you could just throw anything in your tank and have it run...
You mean this law? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080624/ap_on_go_co/congress_gasoline
I hope the rule of "If it's too good to be true, it probably is" doesn't hold up here.
lol zach!
it's like $4.50 for regular in chicago!
and yea ur right powershift, hopefully it doesn't...cuz i tell myself that a lot!
but owiehnrwoie omg! it's gotta pass. And it's gotta stay that way and not be temporary.
Speculating on items in crisis or that could fall into crisis I thought was not allowed. Man, its been all downhill since that down syndrome cowboy took over.
Anyway, I remember when gas was $1.25
I'd be extremely happy with $2.00 for premium, at least until it shoots up to $5.50 then I'd be happy with what we're paying now. ($4.27 for premium in Daytona)
for the love of god, please pass this bill!everyone is hurting because of these damn gas prices
Is that man holding a cigarette beside the gas pump? Tisk tisk.
Sorry. Wont pass.
@FloydSummerof68:
Why not... BECAUSE CRISPY'S RIGHT! Bush is getting richer, of course HE doesn't want to see fuel prices drop. Remember his part-time job... OIL TYCOON? His dumbass gulf war 2.0 started the damned oil companies excuses for price gouging increases.
I don't see that bill passing ever, just Govt. BS'ing us, acting like they give a damn, which they don't!
I am so sick of the price gouging. It now costs me $400 a month for damned gas. That is like having another car payment. This BS is getting old.
Who else is there to blame? Our best friends the Saudi's? If Bush and his Pappy are such good buddies with them, why arent we paying less. The saudis now say, "here you go America, we'll give you a little more oil." This is all BS, and theres nothing you or I can do except complain and blame some one. I mean shit, I'm not gonna take it quietly lol.
It's not the Saudi's. It's the damned greedy investors that keep pushing the price of the oil up.
Trust me, the Saudi's wouldn't do something like this because they need us. Other-wise other middle eastern countries would have torn that country apart for their oil.
When you're the number one customer and you're carrying the big stick, you're going to product one of your main suppliers and the supplier will recognize that protection.
As for the prices, blame the un-regulated markets.
Not sure how the U.S. can tell a supplier how much to charge, but whatever.
Oil prices aren't everything when it comes to the price at the pump. In 2001, oil was around $25/barrel. Gas was around $2.00/gal. In 2008, oil is $135/barrel, and gas is around $4.00/gal. Oil prices have gone up over 5x, yet the price at the pump has only gone up 2x.
Interesting.
I think its 130 some miles (to the track and back) to go racing every weekend so I'm with TheOneBullet I need that bill to pass as does everyone else... but I'll believe it when I see it... I'm not gonna get my hopes up
People have gotta spread the word about this. Tell as many as you can, and have them tell other people, including upper level federal representatives.
Oil money may be a big influence, but politicians fearing a loss of their position in the next re-election is an even larger one.
You all can think what you want, but the economy is all supply and demand based. Putting a limit on future market buying for oil won't help as much as you think. It may drop 10-20%, maybe even 30%, but supply and demand will take effect in the oil field. Prices will drop and companies like Exxon, Chesapeake, Devon, Shell, etc. will have less incentive to drill and the supply will drop and prices will be back up.
My suggestion: trade your hot-rod in for a 30 mpg Corvette, move closer to work, and just drive the really bad toys on the weekends.
I can't believe I just said that...maybe you can find something else fun to drive with good MPG other than a GM product.
sweet jesus if that passes im buying 1000 gallons of gas and storing it, im sure even if it does drop it might not even last
JP Morgan speculates that you all will pay our the ass as long as their portfolio is making money.
This message was sponsored by the FED who will raise the rates if oil happens to drop.
We got you covered from both sides bitches! Nowhere to run.
They need to think rally hard about this...... If they pass it people might actually........ like the goverment..........That would be a first.LOL...Just pass the damn thing!
You know this wont happen.
They want us to be paying the same prices as the rest of the world here.
I bet were over 5 for premium here before the summers end. And i bet by next summer were up to 8 a gallon for regular.
Seriously,... i dont think the people of this country are gonna keep taking the crap that the govt tries to get away with.
I really think there would be mass rioting if gas goes to 8 a gallon.
And I'm down for that, road warrior wooot!
^Because the U.S. Government controls how much we pay for a product that a foreign company sells... right? I'm not sure how everyone knows that we tell our suppliers what to charge for their product. I always thought it was they sell at whatever price is the closest to the highest amount people are willing to pay where they take in the most profit.
Well i meant the govt comment as the overall bs level in general from that sector.
When i said they want gas at X price i was referring to the oil cartels.
Were buying mostly from opec, and there are many people in leadership positions in this country that have close ties to those with the power in opec.
It might be kinda roundabout, but there has to be collusion between the two over all this.
Its a deeper than just a simple US buys oil from Xinsert oil producing country hereX
Are you willing to pay 8 a gallon? I'm not, and i damn sure know that most people are to the point that they arent willing to pay 5 a gallon(for those of us lucky enough to not be there yet lol.)
There is only so much pushing towards the highest amount people are willing to pay that the general public will tolerate. Especially with our economy in such dire shape.
PS, you probably will pay $8 a gallon, willing or not. OPEC cannot control the price with supply; they cannot put that much into the market for very long.
It amazes me that in a market as large as the WORLD people think on such a small level to believe that the US government can control a world commodity as large as Oil!
As far as buying all our oil from OPEC...the US is the third largest producer of crude oil in the world at 5,000,000 BOPD (barrels oil per day). Only the Saudi's and Russia produce more oil than we do. And they each produce around 9,000,000 BOPD.
If you really want to blame someone here are a few reason's oil is so high:
1: China's emerging economy...I think they burn more fuel than anyone else in the world!
2: Basic economics...Supply and Demand...The US population is increasing, and the average number of cars per family is increasing...we drive more miles per person than ever before...stop this from happening. At least this affects the price of gas here!
3: Supply of undrilled reserves...areas that can't be drilled but have oil...Atlantic Coast...everyone is so fast to blame the republicans for increased gas prices when the democrats won't open the east coast for drilling...I guess they don't want to mess up there view of the ocean from there multimillion dollar summer homes on the beach.
We still pay less for gas than the Europeans and Asians.
This would make so many peoples lives happier. I really hope it passes (what took em so long to get it this far)
some of you people on here are the ones killing us...saying gas is supposed to be this price at this time...politicians n suppliers looks at that and say...well they expect it...charge it. im not sure how we can fix this but i hope something happens!
When I first started driving it only took 17 dollars to FILL my 95 Formula with premium from empty. Oh the good ol days. Will there even be cars in two years? I'm not paying ten dollars a gallon. My car will be a lawn ornament. I've already but considerable miles on my mountain bike
I guess I'm one of the ones you are talking about...I haven't slowed my use of gas since it has gone up, I've just adjusted my budget accordingly...less eating out, less trips to the bar, etc. You and many of the others on this blog need a serious education in Economics if you believe that politicians are the ones responsible for increased gas prices...ever heard of supply and demand...you and your gas guzzling sports cars are affecting gas prices just as much as I am with my 4X4 F-150, others with their H2's and of course the politicians with their big limos and anyone else with a gas guzzling sports car, SUV, or truck. That is the only effect the politicians are having.
Do you really believe that the guys in Washington said raise gas prices?
What do they get out of it?
The only ones making money here are the oil companies and they are doing everything they can right now to try and increase production.
Before the ignorant ones on politics start blaming Bush (who is a Republican)...maybe you should look at congress not passing any bills which would help, such as drilling Alaska, off-shore drilling, and now this...
Do me a favor and look who runs congress, what party, then stfu about Bush and learn more about politics. I hate people who base their views off NOTHING.
Haliburton, and the bush families heritage in the oil industry. Thats not based on NOTHING thats based on FACTS.
While it is wildly popular to blame the shrub with everything....
Bush Jr. isn't to blame for anything, The idiot can barely read the speeches that he's handed. How has he run the country for 8 years?
He sucked ass as our governor and has done just as good of a job as president.
Also, not all politicians are involved.I don't think that all of Washington is in on it. But its not ignorant to question the motives of those that have a huge investment in the oil industry.
And to Speed... the economy isn't based solely on supply and demand. Its influenced by that process for sure... but not based only on how much of something there is versus how many people buy it.
im glad it went down to 385!
It keeps bouncing up and down 10 cents but i hope it drops a dollar or so soon!
I'll stop driving and get my Nike's on! =D
LoL
I went to town w/ my racist old granny today to go eat.
We went to fill up her car(i had to drive) and today was the first time in her life she has paid more than 4$ a gallon.
I got to hear about when she probably spent 4 bucks a year for gas. And then how for like 40 years she never paid more than 4 bucks a tank.
My grandma is 85 years old, and is just as pissed as the rest of us at the BS gas prices.
That would be great, i've switched to the motorcycle as a daily driver. i was filling up with gas every couple of days in my car with all the driving i do. $600+ a month on gas, ouch
More than three weeks later, and no news or results on this passing.
Did it get knocked down or what?
