Saweet!
I dont really understand why mopar would really go through all that trouble but... i guess now you can actually buy a RACE car... My dad is contimplating placing an order on an 09 SRT8 Trak Pack-which includes a 6-speed manuel with 3.92 gears...stock gears are 3.06!
I hope he gets it hahaha
@AmericanMuscle255: lol manuel nice spelling job
this is a transmission, not your latin lover.
I think Dodge did this back in the muscle car era too, where they offered a "drag racing" version of their car, and it was as light as can be also. This is actually pretty cool. Only difference was back then, you could legally drive it off the lot with plates on it. Not so much today hahaha
Wow, they really shaved a lot of weight off of those things. They should pretty much fly down the track! Neat, nice to see someone doing something a little different in today's day and age.
@Namrepus28:
Being lighter and more power, they will also fly OFF the track more easily..
Those look incredible. Wish GM would do something like that with the new Camaro. If I were a Mopar guy, I'd be all over one of those!
damn.. that is cool but my guess is they will charge 2x as much for it with 1/2 the parts of a stock one.. lol!
@SixVi6Camaro: it says right in the article...starting in the low 30ks.
@noriceinside:
yes but have you seen the markups for the current SRT-8s I can imagine what they will be for one of those.
@ CamaroZach
The original Super Stock Darts were drag only packages too. You had to come to the dealership and back it off the trailer yourself. It came with a warning label that stated it was a maximum performance vehicle not intended for road useage and no warrentyapplied. If I thought I could get one I'd do it. The are body-in-white cars though so they're not delivered in ready-to-race form, some assembly required.
Yeah it says 30K in the article but there is no way they will let these go for sticker. There will be a huge markup on these cars for sure.
@SlvrV6Camaro:
If you order an 09 now, there's no mark-up, just MSRP
You can always find dealers who will sell legit at MSRP and dealers who make huge markups.
You can order CTS-V's for under MSRP from a couple dealers right now while you can order them from other dealers for thousands over MSRP.
That's how it always is.
