Oh, and how cool is that - it's still sporting a Michigan plate.

It wants better times.. and this time it's not on a damp track.
So it's out there...... still trying. The poor driver can probably drive the ring blindfolded by the time they match or best the GT-R. Lol.
Look forward to seeing the lap times. I hope they can capture some vids, preferably an in-car view of the whole track
Just the facts, don't hate
The ZR1 is a great car for sure, and at around 2x the price of the GTR I'd sure hope that it could beat the GTR.....
i doubt the few laps it takes to beat the gt-r's time is going to qualify the "poor driver" to go at the 'ring blindfolded. cory IS lost.
two times the price? $100k is NOT 2x $70-80k. but regardless, good luck buying either one of them for less than six figures.
Sure, the ZR1 is lookin to be 100k or so and then figure in the 70k or so markup!

sbmotorsports, yeah they do....but so do domestic drivers. It goes both ways heh. I am very curious to see how it performs.
@Coryislost:
and you dont think they will mark up the GT-R? with only 2000 of them for the first year, im sure most of them will end up going for well over 100K also, nice try.
Both cars are going to be amazing cars, the GTR will never sell under $100k in the states because to many rich ricer fan boys willing to give their left nut for one, and the vette has over a 50 year following of course everyone will want one that can take out Exotics
Eh sure the GT-R will be marked up but I highly doubt it'll see the 70k markups that the vette is already lookin' at. Either way this is an awesome time to be a car enthusiast with some cash regardless of what kind of vehicles you prefer!
every GTR is already spoken for, try finding one for 70k. they will be selling over 120k too. whoopie do. couple of tenths around a track is no big deal, because on the streets the vette with have a 140 hp advantage.
It'll have a 140hp advantage, as well as a 30k base price jump over the GTR.. I bet you could get some pretty mean mods with that extra 30k on the GTR!
and i could buy a 1,000$ civic hatchback and put 80k into it too. logic much.
If someone can afford a ZR1 they can afford to mod it....your example is dumb Cory. Any car can be made fast if you have the money. Stock for stock the ZR1 is better who cares about price...not like any of us here can afford it.
I'll buy a ZR1 when I get the job I want. Until then, I'm gonna work towards my Z06 after college.
yea, i agree, the markup on the vette will probably be more ridiculous. there are two on craigslist for $350,000. they were presold to a guy who figured he would try to make a pretty penny off of them. really tho, you can't go wrong with either of them, both insanely bad ass.
who cares if the zr-1 can beat it around the track or not. all i really care is that it can beat 0-60 and quatermile. 640 hp ws 480? haha
@77rAnger
Did you not see the recently posted video of the GTR at the 'Ring with the Gran Turismo creator behind the wheel?

@00firebird:
I'm just saying 140hp can easily be bought with the leftover 30k... All that being said we're comparing the tip-top of the line Vette to the standard GTR, ah well good stuff.
Anyone notice we are comparing the absolute top of the line Corvette to the basic GTR? Now lets compare base models here, the GTR would stomp on the base Corvette. Z06? Probably the same thing. Now lets see what happens when Nissan starts selling hopped up versions like the V-Spec, or if they have a Nismo version coming out
@SaturnVUEguy: I sure haven't. I heard that about a year ago someone had a in-car camera and had a really bad wreck or something and they put it on youtube so they stopped allowing it.
Guess not
@77rAnger, there are a LOT of crashes there each year. I think I read a while back that at least one person dies on that track per week, and that doesn't include the fatalities at the hospitals. With all that said, I would not be surprised if there is some in-car views of wrecks there
Doesn't matter how you slice it. Prices are gonna be close regardless. GT-R still hasn't faced this country's emissions, ZR1 has. Even then, let the modding begin. There are plenty of domestics sitting at their dinner table awaiting the boats to bring them their dinner.
Are you implying that the GTR will have a tough time meeting emissions standards?
I'm implying it's numbers will drop in the States as oppose to what it's doing now when it reaches us, unless Nissan changes things alittle to accomodate for it.
according to Motor Trend, the only difference with US spec GTRs is wider seats
