After taking my 1989 Iroc convertible to the National F-body event and running my first track event, I was hooked. So I sold the convertible and found my current project. I have a 1991 Z28 hardtop which I bought in spring of 2003 for the sole purpose of being a track day car and weekend cruiser.

The engine is a 350 TPI with some minor stuff done to it, but since it has 237,000 miles on it without a rebuild, my plan is to transplant a 2000 LS1 into it for next years track season. With very minor upgrades, I should have a very reliable combination putting down 350-400 hp, and getting more than 20 mpg on the highway.

To date, I have about $12,000 in the car, the largest part of that being the paint. With the planned mods I should have the car completed well under my $20k budget.
